I dont plan to do the internals. Just a hack n tap eventually.

if you dont beat the **** out of your rig you'll be fine with a 242. Some people say they internals are weaker, but there aren't exactly a lot of cases of busted 242s. AWD sounds fun for winter.

And that sells me on keeping a 242...now just to find one.

I was thinking about getting the rustys tow hook kit but I have fog lights mounted to my bumper, do you think its more trouble than its worth? thanks

As a thought on a 242, they are a bit pickier on how they shift. Sometimes it can take a bit to get it to engage/disengage while the 231 is instantaneous.
