XJ Ask the Question Thread
Anyone have a picture of the OBD area of 99 Cherokee or of the driver's side step lamp? I purchased a 99 Cherokee Sport 2wd and was about to upgrade to LED bulbs and went to check what the step light bulbs that are by your feet were and the driver's side on mine doesn't have a fixture. The passenger side has a socket that is mounted with a screw. Is the driver's side supposed to have one too? Almost looks like mine doesn't have the last bottom panel or something. Thanks!

I'm looking to expand on things I can make out of metal for XJs or other vehicles but have no clue what to make. So does anyone have a need for things made out of metal to fix the broken plastic ones?

I'm thinking of getting all 3 of these.
Do I need all 3 or is there overlap?

For the trail in my portable tool box I keep a simple mid size one.
I have the 16" long at home that I almost never ever use.
You don't need all. I would Buy the mid size one you like and the big one when its on sale.

There is no stupid questions.
Its stupid not to ask if you don't know
I am just going to buy a bunch of stuff b/c I'm sick of never having the right tools for an XJ.
Like, I want those big channel locks for when I have a large bolt to deal with.
I needed this wide mouth to hold the shock while I tried to turn the bolt above.
But, I heard the Knipex are great pliers. So, I wil get both kinds.
When exactly do you need to use pliers instead of wrenches or a socket set?
What's the difference b/w the 2 Knipex pliers?

the channel lock are the universal/do-it-all pliers and are a must in any tool kit. One of the Knipex seems to have quite a complex locking mechanism. Best to handle them and see what you feel best with. The jaws is what do the work.
Not everything has a place to put a socket or a wrench to it. You will find soon enough when you start doing some repairs/mods.
