If you're going to the parts store to buy yours, make sure you buy some relative bearing grease to coat them before you install them.

Hope you at least replaced the kanuter valve. AutoZone had a special on where you got a pint of synthetic blinker fluid for free! The good stuff with photon modifier pre-mixed.

I do know it's good for tracking down exhaust leaks and vacuum leaks, and it also worked well to clean out my gummed up carburetor on a lawn mower that had been sitting for a long time and wouldn't start... but then again, there are other products and solvents that you can use for that as well.

I have heard good things about Marvel Mystery Oil... the JP guys seem to like it a lot too. Salad - what are your thoughts?
Yeah sticky carbs is something else. Buddy of mine uses SeaFoam to fog his boats. I too noticed nothing in my Jeep...

Cruiser54 and a few other guys swear by MMO. I checked out the MSDS and it looks like its cut from similar cloth. But I've never tried it. Slightly different application IIRC.

My build sheet says that I had a 117 amp alternator oem. I can't find a 117 amp for a 96 online anywhere, only

1999 TJ 4.0L
99-00 TJ 2.5L
99-00 Cherokee XJ 2.5/4.0L
99-00 Jeep Cherokee (XJ)

Morning everyone,

I walk out to in the -3 degrees and super windy tundra that is MN to head to work and my jeep wont start. All the electronics turn on and function. When I turn the ignition I hear nothing. No click, no extra noise. Am I safe in assuming that my starter is either dead or frozen? The windchill here is absurd, something around -15. I'm just trying to prioritize my diagnosing since being outside is really not a good idea right now.

Any help is greatly appreciated!

Default Question?

(1989 jeep Cherokee XJ) Ok so I have a question. So I was under my hood pulling out old amp wires that were for the stereo. Then out of nowhere I noticed a red wire just by its self. Later that day I went to take off for work and my acceleration was very slow.So I followed one side to the starter relay. It's two wires, 1 18g red wire and the other a red with a white strip wire that leads and turns into a green wire at the starter relay. Going the other way the two wires lead into a connector. After the connector the red and white wire goes into a tube with a bunch of other wires that pass to the front of the radiator and to the driver side. I opened it up and didn't find another broken wire that the red one would be connected to. Can some one tell me where it goes?

Could be the NSS. Try starting her up in Neutral. If that doesn't help, likely the battery

I tried jumping my car with my girlfriend's. Won't start with my jeep in park but I put it in neutral and it starts just fine. Tested it a few times without the jumper cables on and it starts in neutral as well as park. Engine ran very rich for the first few starts. Drove it around, shut it off, starts just fine in both park and neutral. Rich smell in exhaust is gone after drive.

Could it have just been a one time issue or is this indicative of a failing NSS?

I see several guides online to servicing/refurbing your current NSS. I have no doubt of my ability to correctly reassemble this from what I am seeing online. Is it advisable to refurb your own or is replacement a better option? $187 on rockauto us pretty steep for me.

Snake oil.

What are you trying to accomplish?

Clean fuel system or crankcase? There are better and more effective options.

I replaced mine with a NSS from ebay and it worked fine. Cost $35. I still cleaned mine and kept it as a spare

This could be a better idea just in case yours comes off in pieces due to corrosion.
