XJ Ask the Question Thread
Couldn't find a definite answer on various parts houses for my question.
Wheel cylinders and brake hardware interchange between Dana 35 and Dana 44?
Most of my google searches always lead to parts suppliers websites but they never say whether if it's for a 35 or a 44. So that lead me to think that they are interchangeable. But I would prefer to hear from u guys.

First thing's first, i just found out there is a jy with Cherokees in new Orleans. Woot!
New question is about rear shocks. I have a sport 2wd and will hardly ever, read never, go wheelin, just city streets with big potholes. I've read about replacing rear shock pain but I'm hoping that won't be an issue. Got no rust elsewhere. Rear end is a little bouncy and it actually looks a little lower than the front.
What kind of shock would be best for me?

So I picked up a new to me np231 to replace the 242 that has been acting up on me.
Good looking case and I also picked up a new rugged ridge sye from a guy that sold his jeep and never put it on. Got it for 140!
Anyways I broke the case open and started the install. Figured I would change the fork bushings and chain since I'm in there. Bearings felt great so no need for an overhaul kit.
But at my local four wheel parts there are a few chain options. How are be alloy USA chains? I'm guessing there is a reason their 60$ less than crowns and omix-Ada's ?
I've heard great things about Borg Warner's but if I could save the money I would get the alloy usa. What chains are y'all putting in your 231s?
Thanks guys

I'm pretty sure I'm in the clear, but wanted to check.
I recently changed the transmission fluid a few weeks ago, and now I am having a minor issue with the transmission.
My transmission has always entered the gear selected immediately. No hesitation, no waiting.
It is still connecting immediately in Drive, but Reverse is taking anywhere from 5 to 20 seconds to engage. It's never done that since I owned it.
This started after I made a high speed (really!) 200 mile trip. The next morning, I spotted a small fluid leak. Nothing major, maybe 10 drops or so.
When I got under to look, I noticed the rubber hose was brittle and moist. Subsequently, I changed the hose and no more leak. It did not make a noticeable change in the fluid level.
Any idea on what may be causing the hesitation?

edit--replied to the wrong post but I'll keep it here:
Dex III is not at all the same as Mercon III or ATF3.
Nobody is making a legitimate Dex III. GM does not license it. Anything that says Dex III is a "compatible" fluid per the manufacturer's idea of compatibility at the desired target price.
Dexron VI is licensed and must follow GM specs. Its possible that somebody is selling a Dex VI "compatible" fluid so you still have to look at the jar. But nobody is selling legitimate Dex III, because nobody has a license to it.

Quick question, is it bad to leave my Jeep in 4H when off and parked? I've never done it over night, longest was for about an hour. Just curious if it could lead to problems. It's a '97, NP231, 187,xxx miles.

It's completely fine as long as you don't forget it's in 4 and drive it on the pavement.
Quick question has anyone had a issue with windshield washer not working the wipers do not move when pushing the lever I think it is the switch in the mutil switch. so far no one has one without tilt but with intermit wipers.
