But I would prefer to hear from u guys.

most drum brake parts are sold for diameter--you're probably 9" for D35 and 10" for D44, but those aren't the only option, and the only way to know for sure is measure the inside diameter of the drum

Good looking case and I also picked up a new rugged ridge sye from a guy that sold his jeep and never put it on. Got it for 140!
Anyways I broke the case open and started the install. Figured I would change the fork bushings and chain since I'm in there. Bearings felt great so no need for an overhaul kit.
But at my local four wheel parts there are a few chain options. How are be alloy USA chains? I'm guessing there is a reason their 60$ less than crowns and omix-Ada's ?
I've heard great things about Borg Warner's but if I could save the money I would get the alloy usa. What chains are y'all putting in your 231s?
Thanks guys

Default Antenna connect to radio

Radio in my '94 XJ is so bad I'm thinking that the antenna wire may not even be plugged into the radio. What's the quickest route to check that out? Looks like the black framework on front of the dash is fastened with a couple visible screws then maybe access to the radio (?) If it is connected, anybody else finding that these radios are really **** poor in terms of reception? My '60 Falcon with a coat hanger antenna got better reception than this thing does. Hoping that maybe the plug just came loose and pushing it back in will fix it. Any feedback greatly appreciated.

Running 35x12.5x15 Mickey Thompson Baja MTZ tires on a D30.
I replaced ball joints, hubs, and u-joints a couple thousand miles ago. I'm debating whether I should swap those lightly-used parts into the new D30 or if I should just buy new stuff.

I feel like the mileage I've put on them is insignificant, but I know the life expectancy is lower with the 35s. Thoughts?

My advice is put the old hubs and u-joints on some junkyard extra axle shafts for bolt-on trail spares, and put a pair of ball joints in your trail bag for field repairs too. That leaves on other pair of ball joints that you can give to a buddy for his trail bag.

The hubs on my spare shafts have a rubber seal, so I was able to pop them open and pack with bearing grease for long-term storage without rusting.

What he is trying to tell you is that the wheel cylinders are based on the size of the brakes not the axle. If you have ten inch drums it's going to be one size bore and if you have nine inch drums it's going to be another size bore. This is probably why you couldn't get a straight answer from a parts house based on the axle. The cylinders aren't listed that way. Tbh if you're going to noreilleys, schmuckzone or the like, they're not even capable of looking up axles like that, it's not part of their system. Best they can do is look up vehicle that have those axles and see if the part numbers match or not.

Sorry if that came across snippy... I happen to work at one of the aforementioned stores. The system we have to deal with genuinely sucks. The only way we can look up parts without a part number is by application. (year, make, and model)

Side note for all everyone that is frustrated with the counter people at your local box parts house, if you need a part that didn't originally come off of your vehicle, don't mention your vehicle, just ask for the part off of the vehicle it did come off of. For instance ask for injectors for a 95 dodge neon (if for some reason you don't want jy parts, we have them btw 87$ a piece), it's easier if you don't confuse them. They don't need to know what it's going in. Don't mean to sound mean, just thought I'd try to make your lives easier.

Cheers!

I know my 93 cherokee has a gm ignition key that I'm fairly sure isn't OEM. Not sure it works backwards but apparently your can put an ignition cylinder from a 80s into a 93... hope that helps? Edit: The door key is oem and is a jeep (Chrysler?) style key... had to get the code for it from the dealer after I bought the thing... didn't come with door keys.

Call up your local parts house and see if they have one of each on the shelf, and then compare them see if they're the same.

My '88 had a GM ignition. That's all I can contribute to this discussion, though
