Default tick in my trans

I have a 1988 4x4,5 speed manual trans, I6 and by using my Chilton as a reference I believe I have the "BA 10/5" trans. I live up in the san Bernardino mountains and drove it up here when I moved about 3 months ago and when I got to the top of the hill there started a consistent "tick" that goes with my rpms it is definitely in the trans. When I push the clutch petal in all the way it goes away, as soon as I let off a bit the noise comes back. This happens in any gear and sitting at an idle. From what I have read it sounds like the throw out bearing but nothing perfectly describes my symptoms.
Also I have already bled the hydraulic fluid for the clutch, topped off gear oil in trans, and have pulled apart the trans and noticed that the throw out bearing is kinda loose in the shaft.
My question is what is the sound? Has anyone had this before?
Sorry for the long post but wanted to include everything.

Very likely in the clutch/throwout bearing area.

Can anyone shoot me in the right direction for troubleshooting my ac system.

My 2001 xj blows air through the vents.
There is pressure reading from the port right next to the passenger side canister thing. Evaporater I think it's called.
AC compressor engages. About every 6 seconds and when it does the pressure drops. When the compressor stops. Is climbs back up.

Any advice really helps. Does anyone have a diagram of the AC system???? Thank you

If ur interested i still have the wiring diagram and can send it to u. Really helped me out on and off road, hope it might help u.
Absolutely I was thinking about hooking that up this weekend but I was just planning wiring it direct

That kind of rapid cycling is usually caused by too little refrigerant in the system. What's happening is the pressure on the low side is dropping so far that the low-pressure cutoff switch turns off the compressor. (This protects the compressor from damage due to lack of oil circulation.)

So you probably have a relatively slow leak somewhere, but the system is not completely discharged or the compressor would not come on at all.

You could try putting more refrigerant in the system but you should really have a full gauge set that will monitor the high and low pressures. There are videos you can search for on youtube showing the procedure. (WEAR EYE PROTECTION! You don't want that stuff getting in your eyes if something goes wrong.)

Got the manifold out. How can I clean in there? Or leave it alone and seafoam later? Looks like it's been running rich for quite some time:

After installing the HD fan clutch, jeep can sit and idle indefinitely with AC on and not suffer heat creep.
Make sure the air passages in condenser and radiator are clear of bugs and debris, and fins are not bent. Fan shroud must be intact also.
I use the e-fan override switch for beach driving and to cool down engine/manifolds after engine shut down.

i asked the other day about the manifolds gasket and was surprised to see one was included with the apn header. makes sense I guess, but since I never noticed it, I think by putting back the header in the box I bent it because when I first noticed it, it was sitting at a 45 degree angle. I put some books on it for the time being, but is it still useable? is it the same gasket I would get at my local napa or cheaper quality?

below I posted a couple pics to show what it looks like. thanks

Normal and not bad at all as far as the ports and manifold.

Put it back together and "water" it. Here: https://www.cherokeeforum.com/f30/st...-4-0-a-226299/

Thanks, cruiser! So you don't think I should buy a new manifold? That crack goes about 3/4 the way around

He meant the carbon in the head. You definitely want to replace that manifold

Oh good. I was about to put an m80 in the tank if I spent six hours in 90 degree heat and didn't need to

So I'm replacing the head on my 01 in a couple months. While I've got everything apart, I want to do a few things.

I'm gonna replace the cam and crank sensors with Mopar units. Do the water pump and stat etc. but my question is about the exhaust manifold. I've pretty much fried my pre cats so I'd like to replace them. Where can I get a new actual oem manifold? Or is there a higher flowing one that isn't a no name eBay piece of crap that has pre cats and bungs for 4 O2 sensors. I've looked around and haven't come up with much
