All you really need is a 3/8 drive ratchet, assorted extensions and universal connector. That's the trick. If possible, get a buddy to lay on underneath and sort of spot for you. It's much easier when someone can actually see the socket landing properly on the nut. Once you've done it a few times (sigh) it's easier to know, but the first few times it's pretty crucial to have a helper. It's also nice to have someone around for moral support lol.
Skip the PB blaster and Kroil those bolts up for a couple days! Shouldn't need a breaker bar.

Apologies for asking so many questions but I have two XJs giving me grief at the same time.
My dad's pot head mechanic didn't put the full weight of the vehicle down on his Jeep before torquing the leafs. I want to fix this because it's up an inch or so and looks kind of dumb. Can I just raise her up, support on the frame with axle hanging, unscrew the leaf mounting bolts, set it back down and re-torque? Or do I have to basically uninstall and re-install completely?

So I bought this '98 Classic with some goodies. Can I put a Tomkin gas tank skid with what appears to be a XRC bumper? Not sure, could have been fabricated. Vehicle has basic RC 4.5 suspension mods, nothing rad. Can I change the rear shackles to something more flexible from the RC. I know this is a beginner's setup, but probably all I'll ever need. Finally, what do you guys think about the rest of the skids for this? Do I stick with RC or go for something else? There are a lot of vendors out there, and I don't want to order the wrong part, because the wife has decided to monitor our financials since my '98 purchase. Thank my lucky stars she has no idea of the dollars in her '01! Which isn't nothing, compared to this one. Divorce immanent should she find out about. HA! HA! I love my wife, but I love my Cherokee more 'cause it can take me away from the noise pollution.

I run a fan setup which might help u out. I deal with some pretty wicked traffic driving in and out of New York City everyday and was having some serious overheat issues. The mechanical fan wasn't able to do its job in bumper to bumper traffic that can last over an hour and I didnt like waiting for the electric fan to kick in on its own. I installed a switch and a second relay so I could turn the aux fan on manually. When the switch is off the aux fan works normally, when the switch is on the normal fan circuit is bypassed and the aux fan will run until the switch is turned off. If ur interested i still have the wiring diagram and can send it to u. Really helped me out on and off road, hope it might help u.

when installing my springs this weekend i torqued with the wheels off the jeep, but with the axle on jackstands (kinda hard to access the u-bolt with a torque wrench when the wheels are on..) was this a mistake? at the time I thought since the weight is on the springs there shouldn't be any problems, but now I'm starting to question myself.

i have a 95 xj replaced the leaky gas tank, straps, filter and new fuel pump. Still was leaking so I was looking to replace the sender assembly but was unable to find one that has the supply line and a return line for a 95. I found one at O'Rileys for a 93 with 4.0. Brand name is precision and has the supply and return. All was great until the 3 week old pump went out was only getting 19psi for fuel pressure got a new one on warranty and all is good now. It is kinda loud can here it come on when the key is turned to "on" when sitting in the drivers seat, also when its running if i go to the rear i can clearly hear it just about the same for the one that went out. so I was wondering did i just get a bad apple or is that brand crap? The plug on the pump is the same as my 95 and the 20gal tank is the same as the 93 and 95 so that should not be a problem. Got a 8hr trip coming up soon so i would like to not have to worry about the pump going out again and having to buy and "better pump, i mean i will if that brand pump is a crappy brand
