I guess I'm not being clear. It runs 210 all the time, but in stop and go traffic it gets really hot. I would take a picture but thankfully I haven't run into any traffic today. I was idling for a few minutes at the airport the other day and it got dangerously hot, like almost pegged out.

That's a problem, replace your mech fan clutch as suggested and check to make sure your E-fan is working.

clutch fan is most responsible for keeping it cool in traffic.

Electric fan. Is it coming on at about 215*?

Cruiser, how do you refresh the CPS connection on a 2000?

Got aftermarket fog light switch in the mail today. No way to tell what the wiring layout is. Can anyone help?

I don't know where that comes from, but I don't see how that's possible. The bulk of wiring as well as the controls are in the driver door, plus the window lockout switch is also on the driver door.

This.

The mechanical fan is your main source of air draw through the radiator. The electric fan is actually referred to as "auxillary" for the purpose of just that... another fan in addition to the main fan. The mechanical fan is a very effective means of drawing air through the radiator - just make sure the shroud is in place and the clutch is in good working order.

That is my understanding. My locks in my '00 work like 98% of the time. I poke around from time to time to get some insight for when I do try an fix them. Low on the list though.

Looks about right. Put factory fogs in an '00 XJ that did not come with them. The pigtail you show with the connector was there plugged in behind the blank on the bezel. I have extra parts from the install. Stole what was needed from a couple fog light XJ's. Will post what pics I can later for you to see. Hopefully that will give you a better idea.

Edit: I was wrong. There are 4 wires coming out of the connector going to the harness. Purple, blue, orange, and black. Also that says that is for a Wrangler. What are you trying to do? Will still post pics but maybe this will help:

As wit any connection, disconnect it, spray both halves out with contact cleaner, and inspect the little connectors inside.

The only thing I can say from experience is that at idle the mechanical fan is not drawing much air. If you're standing in front of the jeep at idle and the e-fan comes on you can feel the air flow increase significantly. I'd say 2-3 times more CFM(not measured just by feel) is drawn through the radiator than by the mechanical fan at idle. Rev it up a bit to 1200-1500 rpm and they're probably pretty close when at a standstill.

This is what I'm weighing out right now......

I have a 2.5 with a single E-fan and I need additional cooling.

I've been looking closely at a solution.

Reading what I can on mech fan vs clutch fan vs e-fan.

I'm seriously considering a 4.0 rad with 3 e-fans.

Just looking at which direction to throw my money at.

I will also have to give close consideration to the quality of e-fans.

Replaced my starter and now its making a grinding noise on starts. I imagine I need to shim it a bit? How thick of a shim are these things and where do I find them? I see some weird ones on parts store sites
