I would recommend exercising caution with anything requiring a core return because shipping can be such a pain.

Regardless, their catalog and application guide is second to none. I do most of my parts research there for interchange etc.

Nope. At 120k you should run oil. Possible exception is if someone ran sand through it.

Check manifold for cracks. Track down the source of the noise. A lot of people think they have piston slap or blown lifters when it's really a cracked flex plate. A chunk of garden hose will go a long way to finding the source - a mechanic's stethescope is even better.
Thanks, I'll whip out the scope

So while attempting to remove a lock right locker out of a parts jeep I got I began researching lockers. For the longest time I wanted a selectable (e-locker mostly) in the rear and an auto in the front, this way it would be the "cheapest" and affect my on road driving the least.

Now I'm not so sure of the auto in the front is the best choice. What I'm looking for is something with virtually no difference in handling, noise, etc. while on road in 2wd, and a huge difference off road in 4wd over stock, (here's the kicker) while being relatively easy on the bank account.
I'm not in the market for any lockers now and probably won't be for some time just looking for some input from people with real world experience.

Default Pull codes w/out scanner

Hey guys, searched the site, know it's here somewhere, but I had no luck.

1999 4.0/auto

I know there's a way to pull the trouble codes without a scanner, anybody know the process?

Hmm. Not really looking to cough up $250+ now and then get a long arm next year...I wish for like $100 I could get new replacements and drive that through the winter and see where everything pans out after February...or should I buy and install everything I can now while I have the chance? Lol

Replacement or upgrade? The new style is much less prone to cracking.

49-state or California spec with the two cats?

Whatever is cheaper, I'm not looking for increased hp or anything crazy. The mopar is over 400 bucks.

I have the 49 state spec.

Rock Auto has OMIX-ADA, Dorman and ATP so I guess I will do some research first.

So yours is cracked then? Or you just want to spend money? lol

If you don't have the 4 O2 sensors and 3 cats, I'm fairly certain you can install an exhaust manifold intended for previous years, with the same fitment as a 1999 (certain manifolds need a little clearance adjusting with the newer intake). The factory setup uses the same header as the 3-cat models, but replaces the cats with a simple Y-pipe. I am not sure if the downpipe that bolts up to the manifold is different.

Fairly sure it is cracked, it makes the same sound that my friends TJ made when it was cracked. I'm gonna dump some seafoam in to see if i can see any leaks.

Best way to fix this? The holes that the two bolts for the trans mount go through are stripped out. XJ Ask the Question Thread-image-1938570631.jpg

Time to break out the drill, tap n dye. Drill it out to the next size up, run the tap, and buy another bolt for the new size. Easy peasy.

Especially if it's out of the Jeep.
