Another question: If doing standard DDing what range should the timing advance stay in? I'm still getting the occasional hiccup and the MAP reading and the timing seem to go to one end or the other and then bounce back. Also it's much more pronounced on left turns if that makes any sense at all...

Greetings from Shep....a new member. I have a 1988 Cherokee. The blower no longer works and I have identified the problem as a failed blower motor mode switch. That's what I'm calling it.
This switch sits behind the slide lever face plate that control AC, heat, bi-level choices and well as temperature settings. It has a pneumatic and electrical connecting harness. Does anyone know where I might buy a replacement? It gets pretty hot here in Texas. Thanks to all.

New, I don't think any place has them.
Used is your best bet, and when you install it, make sure the connectors are really clean.
That said, if you go to www.cruiser54.com, you'll find many helpful Tips for your 88. I would begin by doing 1 through 5. Tip 28 addresses an issue with the blower motor.

Im having a sluggish running 1996 jeep cherokee 4.0 liter. It runs and stalls while driving, it has a heavy smell of rich fuel going on. I think maybe the coil packs. Check engine light is on. I figured id start there. Q. How many coil packs are on this jeep. Is it 1 per Sparkplug? Im new here. Be gentle. Thanks... Vince

Anyone have any techniques for diagnosing a stuck belt? Upon start up, One of the worst sounds I've ever heard and the I look under the hood, the belt isn't moving at all.
After removing the belt, the power steering, idler pulley, water pump and a/c all spin freely. Made sure a/c is off when trying to start. Alternator pulley doesn't move but I'm not supposed to be able to spin that by hand, right?
