question for 96 owners, since a lot of sensors and such need to be from 97+ instead of 95- does someone happen to know which blower motor I should get? If it could save me a trip to the store to return a wrong part it'd be well appreciated. would OBDII affect the blower motor (therefore needing a 97+ motor) or because it's the old interior/design it needs to be a 95-.

i can't simply see it by myself because the windshield wiper fluid bottle and A/C stuff are in the way and I frankly don't want to start tearing this a part without having a replacement part in hand, even if the jeep can still run without it.

cheers

Could be. What year is your XJ? Up until and including 1996 there's a failure-prone sending unit near the back of the head that drives the dash gauge.

Unfortunately it sounds like you need both! Cherokees have a much more reliable driveline but you'll have a hard time fitting grown men in the back seat! Grand Cherokees have better seating but failure-prone transmissions and transfer case (the NV249 with "always on AWD" that is, models with NV242 have selectable 2WD and are 100% mechanical)

You should probably go test drive a few and see how you feel.

Nope. Different mounts.

Rock Auto lists the same blower motor for 1996 as earlier years. As it's an earlier dash that makes sense. HVAC box shape and all the mounting changed in 1997

Is this normal or am I about to die?

Previous owner had it lifted but I thought those holes were holes not slots

Just looked at mine, '00 XJ, and can tell you this much. They are not round holes but ovals. Best I can tell anyway. Did notice on mine that the spacing varied a little on the amount of the oval hole that is showing. Now I am wondering if that is an issue.

Yeah the bracket has slots. There's a doohickey that fits inside it with normal holes that gets shimmed against the rear of the bracket. The tiny bolts sticking out the back hold it together. Indeed it's for adjusting caster.

Pulled the diff cover off in the process of installing ZJ disk brakes and noticed quite a bit off mushy metal shaving stuff on the magnet. Is this normal? Cause I just had the cover off about 10k miles ago and cleaned the magnet before reinstalling it. I have been noticing a random rough, grinding noise when goin around 45-55 mph. The noise is on and off. I'll just be cruising and all of a sudden there will be a cringing grinding noise. Not sure what was causing it tho. Carrier spins fine and has no play nor does the pinion. So does this look normal? Thanks!

I've run out of time before my move. Need new leaf springs but it would take too long and I'm working too much. Is this an option for springs that are more than flat? Just don't want to be riding on bump stops for 1000 miles when I pack all my stuff in the back

my jeep is literally the same as yours and I just did the same thing. Can u post a pic of the puller installed that way we can make sure it's on correctly. And also, did u take the harmonic balencer bolt off first? Lol

Hey everyone! I'm brand spanking new to this forum, so let me know if I'm in the wrong thread. Just inherited my Dad's 99 XJ and I love it. It needs a little tlc body-wise and I have a couple questions.
1. The area on the driver side underneath the rear door has about a two foot stretch completely rusted out. Given i don't have access to welding equipment, is there a good way to patch that up? I was thinking running sheet metal l
Along the whole bottom of the front n rear door recess attached with flush screws and bondo to blend the seams. I'm going to put Herculiner from the door trim dow so I'm thinking that will disguise some imperfections if its not 100% perfect. Anybody have a better plan?

2. What do i call that part of the jeep so i don't sound like a dummy in the future?

Mount it like this guy did. If it's really stuck, you may need to use an impact gun.

it's called the rocker panel. What you said or welding it would be your best option. If it's rusty there then it probably is elsewhere. How's the frame look? They can get pretty scary when rusted out too. Anyways. Sheet metal and a rivet gun would work great. Just cut out the cancer before patching it.
