I think most people just mount the cooler infront of the grill and run new rubber lines to the new cooler since they already had lines going to the radiator.

Yeah if you have an engine sensor sparking its power supply to the block that could certainly cause problems lol.

Make sure it isn't touching metal and is well insulated. I doubt that was the issue because you can unplug that harness and not notice any difference in how your Jeep runs.

Well the only thing I had with me was some duct tape and some 3/8" plastic wire loom so I taped it then wrapped it. It will work until I get a chance to replace the wire.

Here are a couple write ups that may help (note djb383's set up pic):

88 XJ 4.0

A few questions:

Would a bad/dirty EGR cause idle issues or cause hesitation in throttle from a dead step?

Is the EGR cleanable and what chemicals to use to clean it if so.

It could, as well as a bad EGR solenoid. Vacuum is only supposed to be routed to the EGR when NOT at an idle. Easily tested.

Unplug the hose to the EGR and see if vacuum is present at idle.

Ok, also is cleaning it an option or reccomended to do? Would it help anything if I took it off and tried cleaning it?

[Side note cruiser: iv talked with you about the screw on the side of the throttle body that faces the driver fender. Not the set screw for the butterfly but the bigger allen key screw.

Is it supposed to be set to flush of the TB or adjusted per a specific spec? Mine had silicone all over the threads and im not sure if it could cause my weird idles either. ]

Default More cooling system questions

I guess my cooling system is still a bit off.
Today when I got home from work, roughly a 15min drive, I noticed my temp gauge really wanted to tick over the 210 mark, and it did a bit, the e-fan came on after idling at a light, and it stayed on until I shut off the engine. I popped the hood to check the coolant level and to my surprise, instead of being a tad low, like it had been the last couple drives after overhauling the system, it was damn near the top of the reservoir. For some reason a lot of coolant backed up into the reservoir. Any idea why this would happen? The engine was hot, and I feel like the e-fan is working overtime to keep it cool. Do I have a blockage somewhere?
When I pop the hood it smells like hot coolant.

Default gasket absolutely necessary?

There was no gasket on my transmission drain plug. If I'm planning on doing another drain/refill in a couple of weeks, is the gasket absolutely necessary right now or can it wait til next time (there were no leaks around the plug before, but now that plug and surrounding area are cleaned off . . .)
