Ahhhhh! See I would've called that a "my **** totally rusted off so I'm going to pretend it's still drivable even though I just destroyed the structure" cut. But I guess that's just semantics.

Unless there's serious fab and it's to fit a stretched wheel base of course.

The style is a 'comp cut,' same as Wranglers. It is for big tires/stretched wheelbase. I was gonna say he probably didn't need it, but his wheelbase is undoubtedly stretched now.

My problem, the Haynes manual says to rotate the crank clockwise until the cam timing mark is at the 1 O'clock mark, the crank mark should be at the 3 O'clock , then count the number of pins, it should be 15. Mine is 20. I believe I have it correct, but just want to verify with someone that has worked on these before. Thanks.......RR
I just replaced my chain and sprockets two weeks ago. I lined up the two timing marks on the old sprockets, removed them, then put the new ones on with the timing marks aligned. I have driven about 200 miles now and all is good.

I did this job a few months back and had the same issue. Manifold was not seated properly causing high idle and other issues. I had to do some shaving and hammer work, then it seated properly.

Here is a whole thread on the header fitment issue.
