It's bad to run an aluminum wheel? I wonder why factory and aftermarket rims are made of it then?

Unless you mean that it's not a good idea for rock bashing: Steel you can bend back into shape, or it will just deform. Alloys can shatter if you come down hard on the rim.

I have heard multiple times that running steel wheels is much better than aluminum wheels.

But Im asking because the wheels that I do like very much are aluminum and they do not come in steel. Nor is there another type of wheel that is similar in the form of steel.

If its a street and mud jeep run aluminium. If you ever play in rocks you will risk cracking a rim. Steel bends alum cracks

But wont the wheel be ruined either way?

No a steel wheel can be bent back. Cracks can not be welded per odot

Yeah but you can still drive with a bent rim but kinda harder with a cracked rim since it will most likely lead to a flat tire

I have bent one back. It was just the lip. And I drove home with it bent.

One sharp jab with a rock with the right point on it can fubar alum. Only real alum wheel for off road is a "method" brand wheel. Waaaaaay thicker

Okay Salad, you've kinda lost me now... MIL? There are 2 lights, the "CHECK ENGINE LIGHT" and the "MAINTENANCE REQUIRED" light. The CEL came one during the whole crack no start issue on tuesday an stayd on even when driving... the other light apparently has been on since I've owned it and I finally discovered it when replacing the guage cluster.... like I said, I'm not familiar with MIL - Maintenance Interval Light? Is that what that is? Doesn't sound right.
