Dielectric grease is an insulator. Only thing to worry about is making sure the pins have solid contact afterward.

Two Questions
One: I'm having a problem with my hood release. The hood opens really hard. The hood releases move and open easily when I grab the cable and pull where it is connected to the center piece under the hood. It pulls rlly hard at the release thing in the kick panel. I can not find any binds or anything obvious. What could cause this?

Two(much simpler): what temperature does the e-fan turn on? 98 XJ, thanks

Did you check with a multimeter to ensure it has power, and are the contacts clean?

Ok this is the best way to fix it. Listen carefully and copy this. 1) disconnect cable 2) tuck cable under wire harness 3) break off the housing completely 4) buy a magnetic led light from HB or similar 5) magnet it to the hood when needed and put in glove box when done. Seriously those lighs are more trouble than worth fixing. It was a good concept by jeep but I'm alway seeing the connectors fraying, cracking, burning etc.

Its great stuff. Its mandatory to use in house wiring when attaching old aluminium and copper wiring together and highly recommended for all aluminium connections.

the thing to watch, is it is a conductive grease. it does protect against corrosion but make sure you don't smear it all over a multi pin connector. It will short the connections.

Best use for any single wire connections or crimped wires such as lugs and such

I picked up a retractable light from an old Chevy work truck at the JY. The light will wrap from the engine compartment all the way around the jeep and back to the other side of the engine bay. The base is only about 6"x6" so u can hide it just about anywhere. Put an LED bulb in it and its super bright. Paid something around $5 for it. Great little gadget to have when u need quick semi-portable light around the jeep. I hang it from my roof rack and use it as a flood light when were hangin out around the truck on night runs.
