Dunno lol. Some small leafs are flat and not fitted to the whole spring pack, look like they'd only come into effect if the springs are almost flattened. Stock pack would probably be noticeable

:sigh:. Today just sucked. Ill find a local part out and try and get a hold of a used small leaf to through it back in. Just one if those days.

It's certainly possible. Try the following "poor man's prime":
- key to ON, hold for 3 sec
- key to OFF
- key to ON, hold for 3 sec
- key to OFF
- key to ON, hold for 3 sec
- START
If it fires up well you've just found a bad check valve.
If not, we're going to need more than "hard start". Crank long? Crank slow? Rough running?
Not quite - it still opens the throttle and works the TPS, which is a workaround for a sticky IAC and a dragging alternator from a low battery.
+1 a 4500 lbs winch is only good for hauling your XJ forward on smooth pavement with fully inflated street tires. Maybe. You need at least double the weight of your vehicle and all the junk in and on it if you want to get un-stuck from anything you'd actually get stuck in.

it cranks long. i try once or twice then it usually fires up

i was at a parts shop getting glue for my mirror and asked them about my belt squeaking and he told me to start it and hold a bar of soap on it for a few seconds, it actually worked

My wife wrecked her 95 2x4 XJ, smashed the from end but engine is still good. it did bend the frame and subframe where steering box is mounted. I found an 87 XJ 4x4 with no motor. Can I drop the engine from the 95 in place of the 87, or should I take the front end of the 87 off and turn the 95 into a 4x4? Will they even match up?

Yes and yes are the technical answers.
As for what I'd do it depends on what shape things are in. Lots of rust on the 87 and hacked up engine bay would be deal breakers for me.
However the ideal situation is good body and wiring isn't screwed, then I'd just swap engines. Note that the Renix drivetrain won't be compatible with your 95's electronics, so the TCU for that 4WD transmission won't work with your ECU. (I think so anyway) The engine itself will work with Renix ECU though
