Thanks salad. I wish there was an easier solution for me.

Replace the resistor.

I'm the Renix guy. One of the guys familiar with that new fangled stuff needs to chime in for further info.

P0118:
Engine Coolant Temp. Circuit High Input.

Pulled that off my 99 (along with some O2 codes I knew about).

I googled a bit, and it would seem there are other sensors, TPS, IAT, MAP, and the ECT all on the same circuit. I've cleaned all the connections on the others. But does my 99 have a seperate ECT for the guage? Or just the one on the therm housing?

Nope only the one. 97+ I *think* gets most of it's data via the CCD bus. At any rate it all goes through the PCM

Ok. So I'm not crazy then. Lol.

On the CEL code. I haven't pulled it to see if it went away yet, but are there seperate codes for the different sensors on the circuit? Or could a fault in wiring/sensor trigger a code on any one of them?

Bad blower motor resistor (I think) . Easy fix, about 20$ and you just get behind the glove box, unplug the old one and plug the new one in.

A pile of sensors ground via this monstrous splice - S111 goes back to the PCM. A fault like that would be on the input (output?) dedicated to that sensor. So just the ECT or it's wiring would be shorting out.

Thanks salad. You have made a lot electrical jargon easy for me to understand.

I'll have to check and see if it cleard, I cleaned out the connectors.

I've had an issue with surging after start up and some wonky idiling, the surging has been gone since cleaning the TB again. The occasional wonky idle at start up is still there though. I didn't know if a fault in the circuit could cause problems with other sensors on same circuit.

i have this rattling sound coming from my center console. its right near the shifter and t case shifter. i dont think its my transmission becauase i cant hear it from under the jeep and it shifts perfect through all gears. is there a common part that breaks in that area that would cause the rattling. its only when im stopped that i can hear it.
