1998 Cherokee Classic
4.0 and AW4

Today on the way to work on the highway I was at 2500 rmps at 55 mph. I have no overdrive. After 10 minutes of driving like that it shifted into overdrive, then out, then back in. What is causing this? Shift solenoids?

Sure it does lol. Clean the enginr with a degreaser and go looking for leaks. Pinhole leaks in the rad or freeze plugs are common. If you can't find any then it's time for a leakdown test. You're not finding any coolant in your oil right?

Ever check the adjustment of the white switch at the brake pedal?

When the brakes are hit the TCU cancels OD and unlocks the torque converter. There are actually 3 or 4 circuits that use that switch.
