Use a steel brush to take the paint off. Use a rag and vice grips so it doesn't rotate.

 

You could go trough the floor and build a hoop for them, they are at about the highest possible point under the jeep.

 

go buy some like 1990 c1500 (has to be 2wd) chevy front brake lines. I have them on. front is 4.5" and at full flex I have alot of slack still lol about $14 each

That would be counter productive, that's lowering the top mounting point, meaning you have to run an even shorter shock.

I'm looking to purchase a 3-4" lift using RE/OME/JKS parts with 31x10.5 tires

What would you piece together to accomplish this correctly?

Would that recommendation change if I asked you to incorporate the future possibility (2-3+ yrs) of up to ~4.5" to fit 33s?

i agree. i just found 5 goodrich wrangler 31" tires with the wrangler rims, 15x8, for $200. roughly 10k miles on them

 

I lifted my XJ 3" with RE leafs, a new IRO DS track bar, and 5 new 33x12.5 Duratracs on 15x10 AWC wheels. Total cost under $1000. It can be done with patience.

 

I have my sye on but i dont have my new drive shaft yet. Is it ok for me to put the stocker back in to drive for a while? is it even possible?

 

I am new to Cherokee forum. I bought a 91 XJ a few months ago (actually driving it for 2 weeks, it needed an engine) & it has a lift kit on it. It needs new shocks & I need info. How do I determine what shocks I need?

No possible. Assuming yours is 4.0 auto you can take the front shaft off and put it on the rear until you get a new shaft.

 

I didn't think so I figured it would be to long i just really really wanted to drive it with the new lift I've waited this long whats 7 more days

 

Pull the front shaft and put it in the rear. Takes 10 minutes and you can drive it for those 7 days.

The rear shaft no longer works because it now uses a different style shaft all together.

The front shaft on your Jeep is just like the one on it's way to you.

 

Ok so I have a question about swapping to 4.56 gears in the future( just toying with the idea for when I decide to go with a bigger lift and 35's for my dd) what is involved in the swap... I understand gear ratios and how a rear is designed and I've rebuilt a few ford rears but I've never actually taken apart my 8.25 ... So I kinda just want to know what is involved... I work in a body shop so I have access to mostly everything I will need I beleive... Plus the experience of a bunch of old timers but it's definitely something I would want to do myself( I never let anyone touch my vehicles) thanks in advance guys appreciate any help!
