I'm looking at more possibilities. Right now I'm thinking ironman adjustable shackles (the ones that go up to 3.5" or something like that), rusty's 3" coils, and ironman fixed LCA's. couple of questions:

1. Can I run these shackles on stock leaves without tearing anything up?
2. with ~3" of lift, I know I may or may not need sye/tcase drop and brake lines. I know I need shocks. i'll be getting lca's. anything else? (uca's, track bar, etc)

 

you shouldnt need brake lines. and no new track bar. everything you need should come with the kit

 

ok i think i have the stuff on my 92 cherokee sport for a 4 in toatle possible lift, but.. my rearis lifted, and my front needs stuff for it too b finished.. somthin liek a steering rod extension and a new sway bar mayb? idk. iv never seen a lift that didnt come with everything already so im kinda wonderin what i need too get my front end up. thenx to ne one who could help, if i need too get pics of the inside of the wheel wells too help ne one know what i need i can arrange it. haha

So wait, you're trying to get 3" of lift, with stock leaf springs and extendable shackles?

For anything over 2" of lift the only options for the right way to do it are either A: blocks. Which are a really bad idea. or B: Full leaf packs.

I recommend option B. It will be well worth your money to invest it in doing things right the first time and not having to deal with fixing something else later on.

First off, this isn't a text message. It makes it much easier for us to understand the question you're asking and answer it if you at least use something that resembles proper punctuation.

What parts do you have so far for the front end? for 4" of lift in the front you really need to have an adjustable track bar, new coil springs, new lower control arms, new shocks and new brake lines. Sway bar disconnects are recommended also. You'll also need to get an alignment done after you lift it.

Na its all good. I've been giving two different opinions on something similar in the past and the person who swore I could modify it further and be fine was wrong.

3" is the highest lift height where you're pretty much guaranteed not to need an SYE . Some people need one a 4.5" some people don't. Its sorta on a vehicle by vehicle basis.

I am new to the Cherokee life. My question is simple...or not. I have a 2000 XJ with a lift on it. Is there a way to tell what kind of lift is on it and possibly how much? I am thinking in the 4" range but I dont know. I can see a spring number on the front coil. Would this aid in finding out? Also there are a pair of shackles in the back of the truck. I assume they were supposed to go on but the truck sits level. Any ideas?

 

I'm looking into getting a RC 3in lift with rear leaf springs for 509 you get hydro 8000 for 534.99 you get nitro 9000 for 609.99 you get the performance 2. whats the 2.2's? I think I'm going with the hydros they arent that bad right?

 

It'll seriously mess up your pinion angle along with destroying already tired stock leaf springs. Not to mention to get that much lift in the rear you have to have shackles that are pretty much 12" long.

I know this for a fact because thats what the previous owner had on my XJ when I bought it. The stock leaf springs were INVERTED driving down the road. It also roasted the pinion bearings in my Dana 35. It ended up costing me $350 to fix his mistake.

Do yourself a favor and get full leaf packs, they're only about $260 shipped from Quadratec.

Idk about the Hydro 8000s, but I know for a fact that the Nitro 9000s ride like CRAP. I have them on my XJ and it rides like a brick. First chance I get i'm getting rid of them.

The performance 2.2s are supposedly a much better shock and my buddy who had them said they're a huge difference over the two cheaper options and well worth the money. Personally I'd just get the Hydro 8000s, buy some nicer shocks and sell em on ebay for $100 bones. Then you basically are paying $200 out of pocket for something along the lines of Bilstein 5150s or RE Monotubes.

 

Well I just put the RC 3" series 2 with full leafs and I have a pretty bad vibration and I also changed the u joints. Im gonna install a tc drop in the morning and pray that it goes away! Also I have always wondered why people that are running the black steel wheels like soft 8s never have center caps, well I figured that out when I got mine..... Chrome center caps?????? What is up with that? Anyways very happy with the lift and wheels. I went with a 16x8 rim and the tires are 31.5"... Look great. My springs were so bad that the 3" lift gave me 5" of lift! !!!!!

 

the T-case drop isn't going to fix your vibration, all that will do is put the pinion and out-put angles out of alignment and probably cause more vibrations.

What year is your XJ? and what transmission does it have?

You should also probably check your front driveshaft u-joints.

On top of that, I hope you got an alignment after lifting it and got the wheels and tires properly mounted and balanced.

 

I did check all u joints. They are good. Its a 2000 and I have no idea what transmission it has. Also it had the vibs before I put the rims and tires on.
