Have replaced tie rod ends, center link, and track bar on my stock 2001 Jeep XJ. Noticed about 1/16" play in the pitman arm when I had the center link disconnected. Steering at freeway speeds seems 50% tighter than it was but still a little loose. Is the pitman arm suppose to be rock solid or is the play acceptable and I should look somewhere else.

i believe they're 5/16" X course thread, but they use speed clips, which will probably break way before the bolt will (mine did) leaving you with a spinning chunk of sheet metal...i'm not sure what size the holes are
did you get new frame tie in brackets for the bumper? If so the stock bumper supports probably won't be used.
just for reference here's what the stock stuff will look like when you take the caps off

hate to break it to you man, but your year jeep does NOT have on board diagnostics, thus no PCM port and no ability to use a scan tool (RENIX engine management system).
Sorry you have to use old school manual diagnostics and your brain to diagnose problems on your jeep.
I have a 98 cherokee with select trac 4wd when i put it in 4w pt or ft it seems like its not all the way in and when i go to put it out it will not disengage i have to drive back and fourth to get it to disengage can some one give me some ideas of whats wrong?

Was there any changes throughout the XJ's production run where the engine compartment was changed as far as width between the wheel wells?
I've got a '97 Sport. I know it's a goofy question.
