So ive looked an found a few threads started but they didnt contain anything but askin if it was possible so ill ask here. I have a 4 cylinder diesel john deere motor thats turboed or an just sittin on the back of a street sweeper that I can use to replace my motor in my 1990 xj. Has anyone done this swap? Ive gotten the motor specs from john deere but I cant find any write ups sayin theyve done it. I know ppl have done the 4cyl cummins 4bt motor swap, my main concern is a adapter from the motor to the tranny. Any info would be very much appreciated. Thank you in advance

You might want to post in the Advanced Tech section or check out http://www.4btswaps.com (not just for the 4BT). This is really intended for one-off simple questions about the stock XJ so certain people might not read it, and/or questions can get lost due to such high volume.

98 sport.... So my a/c compressor hasn't been kicking on. We tried filling the system up with r-134a but the compressor never kicked on. Tonight I bypassed the gray plug on the left while the black plug was unplugged from the accumulator had the car running with the ac on and the compressor kicked on for a bit and then stopped spinning. Does my ac compressor have a problem or does it just need to be recharged with refrigerant to keep it running? What steps should I take in this whole process? (such as: if I do just need to recharge it, should I keep the black plug plugged into the accumulator and bypass the gray one or leave it unplugged and bypass the gray one?) thanks.

Newly purchased Jeep Cherokee Laredo. The AC runs for a few minutes, then shuts down to a bare breeze and after a minute or two starts back up again. Ive checked fuses and all seems normal..... Any thoughts or tips ?

Why not?
Probably going to pull a tb from the junkyard to bore out little. I figured might as well paint it.
You think engine paint would be better? I know it gets kind of hot.

back when I had my ChevyII, I painted it's carbs with the same
paint I used on the body. Never had a problem with the paint coming off.
Carbs and TBs should never get that hot. Prep.

Engine: 4.0 stroked to 4.6, Thanks to Teasdale'sMachine!
You can have them powder coated. If you do the blasting and clean it up your self, some places will let you slide it in with other parts for a small charge. The last time I had one PC. It was only 10 for gloss black. Wish I had a pic of it.
