Hey, I have a hole in the down stream egr tube. Tried to get a replacement part, no luck. The guy at the jeep dealership claims he is a buff and that I should remove the whole egr system and cap it off. Anyone have any input or advice on this? Thanks!

So my buddy borrowed my 87 xj to drive to work for a week then tow something without filling the tranny back up (has a leaky front seal)(peugot). Well the shift forks are seizing it into random gears. I'm gonna fill it right now and see if its completely toast. Now to my question

Ax15s are not cheap or easy to come by here but the local 4x4 shop has a aw4 from a renix. I noticed that my xj already has the auto trans plug at the tb does that mean all the other wiring is already there and after i collect the tcu and other parts it would be plug and play?

Should be. Look under the glove box for a plug that's where the tranny ecu goes

Thanks i'll check that.

Filled it and drove it around. Its "driveable" in a pinch but is honestly toast. So it looks like it'll sit till i can collect the swap parts

That's a bummer Oh well, it's not like a Peugot is exactly something you were necessarily going to keep forever, anyway. With regard to the wiring, if you can find the donor XJ I'd crap at least the plugs as well. After 25 years there's bound to be something busted or corroded beyond repair on yours.

Default Jeep won't turn off

I got an oil change yesterday and a new battery installed. Today my check engine light is on and it wont turn off until I open the driver side door all the way. The ignition will be in the off position and key fob out and it doesn't turn off. What could be wrong?

Why do bikers and other people get special waves when they pass each other.... Shouldn't us cherokee drivers have one!

Been doing that with the CJ since the 90's. Just do it. If they're true jeepers they'll wave back.

Try it with a hummer sometime. Lol.

Out of date, needs more love for the XJ. Otherwise an excellent reference! http://jeeptalk.org/jeep_wave.php

You are also going to need to run lines to and from your radiator for the cooling convert to a NSS system and you have to also get the shifter assembly for the auto because it's not like the 5 speed in almost any way

My ac compressor won't kick on unless it's jumped by the low pressure switch, there probably isn't an ounce of refrigerant in it though. The compressor comes on and squeals for a bit then shuts off. I've read that the squealing might mean that I need to replace the bearing. Or is the squealing possibly just from not having any refrigerant in the compressor to lubricate it? If I have to replace the bearing will that release refrigerant causing me to have to recharge the system again?

I have a 1991 XJ 4.0 h/o 4x4. I currently have a whisle when the vehicle hits approximatly 10mph. I cannot figgure out what is causing it. I went around and sprayed every last vacum line with carb/choke and have not found a leak. It sounds as though it is coming from the front and the whistling sound is somewhat interupted as the vehicle rolls meaning that it is not a constant whistling sound and the interuption is faster and slower with wheel speed.

Any thoughts?
