Alright guys, I have a problem with my xj right now and have an idea of what can be wrong. 96 xj sport 4x4. So lately I have been having a problem with a high idle, I'll start it up and usually it would rev a little and come right down but now when I start it up it just goes straight to about 800 (either that or it will have a problem starting and only go to about 200 rpm unless I give it some fuel) after it warns up then I get a high idle, while in drive it will be around 900-1100. Then when I throw it into park it's at about 1200. I have also noticed that when cold it has a slow throttle response. At least when cold. And then not sure what this is about, but under the jeep around the exhaust I'm guessing, after I turn it off I hear a popping noise every 45 seconds or so?

But regardless. For the high idle, I have been reading to check my vacuum lines and my tps. I'll also clean my iac to see of that helps at all. Is there anything else you guys would reccomend checking out? I'll be hitting this either tomorrow or Monday, but I just want to be prepared.

X2 on the TPS. Put a new one in and it should fix your problem, if not let us know.

I have a 2000 Cherokee sport 4L. Anyway I can't get my hatch open! I have tried undoing the bolts underneath that connect to the part of the latch that is connected to the vehicle. Is there any other way to get the panel open with the hatch closed? Or another way to just open it?

I had to crawl in the back of mine and take out the plastic cover piece and manually do it.
