for the c8.25 they tend to run 250-330 for an automatic lunchbox locker, figure double that for a full carrier unit or an air locker or selctable locker, such as ARB & OX etc etc. air lockers will cost especially more due to needing an onboard air compressor.

good news is theyre very easy to install yourself.

im finishing up a ZJ disc conversion on my 8.25 & i have a couple questions.

-what wheel studs should i get, mine are too short. is there a certain size i can go to autozone and ask for?
-what brake lines should i use, its 4" on 33's. (i dont have the softlines that bolt to the rear calipers)

thanks

It can be done, but most people who have a whim to make them don't realize the stress they endure. If he has the means to do it right, that's great. Don't want weak homebrew spacers to be the death of his rig, or of someone else.

Not to sell. They look just like the spider trax ones. I don't run or like spacers, but have made/used them before. U wont find a shop to make them cheaper than you can buy em. My shop would charge probably 500 plus per spacer. I wont make them and sell for the liability.

Spacers are a top-3 highly debated topic on the Forum, along with Add-A-Leaf lifts and people asking about catalytic converter removal (which CANNOT be discussed according to site rules, so let's not start it here). If you have the means and the materials to do it, go for it. Just do your research and be certain that they're done right.

There's nothing wrong with it. They're just divisive topics that don't seem to have a lot of middle ground. People either hate AALs and wheel spacers, or they don't have a problem with them. Not much in between.
The reason I put the idea down initially is because most people don't realize the maintenance required when using wheel spacers, and they can become dangerous if left unchecked. We do love new ideas here, especially homebrew ones. If you do them right, you'll get a lot of praise. If you screw them up, people will be sure to tell you lol

no trouble - we just want to make sure people are safe. Without knowing someone's background and experience it's hard - just don't want some random guy drilling holes in pieces of steel in his garage and slapping them on

Ill be sure to do lots of test driving before i even take it to the road, and definatly maintain them. Should i post if its a success or failure, or just drop the whole thing altogether?

That's up to you. I'm certainly not an expert on spacers, so I would say to research. See what the requirements are, know exactly what you need to do, what materials to use, and then decide if you have the capability of making them safely. I don't do much beyond hand tools, so it would be far beyond my ability. However, I don't know your level of experience or what tools you have access to.

Best advice, do what I did. Order one set spider trax wheel spacers, copy exactly, send back. Lol. Don't make sets for anyone else, they die from it, your in trouble. Not to get a debate but poor maintenance is where I think they got a bad rap. And using them where they have no business being used. Like a 42" irok on a stock rim. Lol. Be sure to check torque on them often!
