Hello, I have a strange dashlight issue that is really starting to get annoying. The back lighting was not working properly, and the right turn signal bulb was out. I replaced the bulb behind the right turn indicator and it fixed my issue, until you turn the lights on. Like I said, the back lighting does not work (and still doesn't [The blue lights you see are my temporary fix until I find my issue]), But the right turn signal indicator turns on. also, when I use the right turn signal, it ticks faster, as if a bulb was out, but both the front and rear signals work. Also, when I turn the lights to the parking light mode, only the front left turn signal lights up, none of the parking lights, nor the other turn signal. The fuse works most of the time, it does sometimes blow though, there might be an electrical short or grounding issue somewhere maybe? Here are a couple pictures of my issues:

Yes she's a little cosmetically challenged, hopefully that will be changed soon, but for now, the mechanical aspect needs some touching up. Thanks for the help!

You should also check your headlight switch and harness that attaches to it

are the turn signals designed to come on along with the parking lights, or is that just some more odd wiring? Also, how do I go about getting the light control lever out? I can get all the trim off and the instrument panel but I don't see any screws or latches? Is the license plate light even on the same fuse as the dash lights? Thanks.

HELP!!! I have never posted in a forum before and I have no idea what I am doing! I will state my problem and then maybe someone could direct me to the proper place. I have a 2001 Jeep Cherokee Sport 4-door- 60th anniversary edition. There is a rod through the motor and I do not know why, as I keep EVERYTHING up to date on this vehicle.I have checked several places on the internet and local salvage yards. Some are saying that only certain year motors can be used in my Jeep because of the computer not working with other motors. My brain is starting to overload with all these facts.
The basic question I have is.......... Do I have to put a 2001 4.0 motor in my Jeep or is there any 4.0 Jeep engine compatable?????
Thanks.........an old lady Jeep owner

Thanks.........an old lady Jeep ownerFor the 2000 model year Chrysler changed how the ignition and exhaust systems work to meet new EPA and CARB standards. 2000 and 2001 are identical, so an engine from those two years will fit 100%. A 1999 can be made to fit, but will require modifications to mount a coil rail (no distributor) and probably something ground away to make the exhaust manifold bolt up.
Beware though if you're looking for a replacement engine that the 2000 and 2001 years have a weakness in the head and are prone to cracking if overheated. So people selling engines out of those years may have a cracked head and are trying to scam people. Not sure exactly what is damaged on your engine, if the head is fine then you're in luck. The blocks are good on your years.
You can get engines from the later year TJs (wranglers), like 2003+, that don't have this issue, but I'm not sure if the whole engine itself is compatible. Generally people just grab the heads for their existing 2000/2001 motor and get on with things.

Old question. To stroke or to rebuild? I'm rebuilding my blown engine. Would it be relatively the same cost to stroke it or would machining costs make it much more expensive? Also this is the Jeep I want to build on and keep for quite a few years in other words, in 15-20 years I want this engine still running strong. If I stroked it how long should I expect it to run?
You may wish to try this over in the Advanced Tech section
ok needs some more opinions my 98 xj has a shake to it about 50mph and up it comes and goes from bump to bump I gave checked everything in the front end and can't find anything that would be causing the problem

Whats up guys?
So last october I bought a "new to me" jeep with the lift already on it. After quite a bit of mechanical work, its going to be time for new tires in a few months before inspection. Currently I have **** Cepek 31x10.5r15 and was hoping to goto a 32x11.5 or 33x10.5. Alot of times when I'm looking at the Jeep my tires look small... With the wheels straight I have ab 4 inches of room up front between the stock flares and bumper end caps, turned I have ab a inch with worn tires. I believe there's a 4" lift on it. What do you guys think?
I really don't want to get into cutting fenders for one reason or another, but am not opposed to getting some bushwacker flat flares. Anyone know if Noobs are able to install them without problems? haha
Any suggestions are deff appreciated !

I had a problem just like this and I had to replace fuse 15 a few times. I then realized it happened whenever my headlights where on and I shifted into gear. Once I opened the cover on the shifter I noticed a nick on the wire for the bulb inside and when I shifted it made contact with metal. So I put electrical tape around it and inserted the loose bulb back to where it should sit and now its fine. The bulb works now too. That was just a bonus though.
