A better option would be the air bag assist that mounts on leafspring plate and contact chassis frame-rail. It operates independently of leaf springs rather than in conjunction with.
Another option is to add another full leaf or 3/4 leaf to the pack.

I understand your situation and being in a hurry, but getting there in one piece is more important than taking a chance and wrecking because your rear suspension breaks.
Thanks for the replies. I'll just use this as an excuse to pack lighter

Default Renix Trans Issue

I have searched high and low for an issue that is similar to mine. But havent found anything the same. I have cleaned the tb and tps and re adjusted checked for blown fuses and tried with the tcu unhooked but same issue. Not sure what else to look for
(The problem) 87 xj auto starts up drives in any gear for first minute or so then out of nowhere it has nothin.(no noises when it goes either) just revs no matter what but if you shut off sit for a minute or so start again it moves it i bought it like this but it pulled itself up on the trailer when i bought it just had to restart it a few times.

That is called "Death Wobble."

Unfortunately it can be many things, and usually it is several things. I recently had death wobble that was caused by imbalanced front tires but didn't present itself until I had replaced the upper and lower ball joints.

But it could have been anything that touches the front axle, from control arm bushings to a bad pitman arm.

You could have a solenoid issue in the trans.

They can be checked for resistance without removing the pan.

That said, ever do Tip 10 at www.cruiser54.com?

I have had your site bookmarked and used it when doing the throttle body and setting the tps. I have done the freshening up of the connections to everything and checking cleaning all the fuses even tried unplugging the tcu because i thought it would let me shift manually but same result plugged in as unplugged. I havent tried checking the solenoids yet though. That will be what i do today.

Would an automatic transmission from a 93 XJ work if it were put into an 88 XJ that was a manual?

Kinda sorta not really. You'll need the correct flex plate for the Renix, and at least the TCU and wiring. Renix used a different TPS for automatic as well. I imagine the ECU is different as well but not totally certain on that.

Also, there are some mechanical differences with how it mates to the transfer case: http://www.naxja.org/forum/showthread.php?t=1053970
