XJ Ask the Question Thread
It's a Jeep I usually don't worry about my ride unless it's an insane noise loud enough or a vibration bad enough to stop the thing in it's tracks. Turn your tunz up and carry on.

Could the 89 Taurus SHO 3.0 60* v6 fit in my 86 cherokee s 2.8 v6. ? Both 60* v6s. But the ford engine was known for keeping pace with the supercars of its time. 220 bhp compared to the 165 I put out right now. Would it work or am I just wasting my time?

I would not recommend the SHO engine because they aren't made any longer and getting parts for it would be a nightmare and/or expensive.
You might consider a Chevy 4.3 v6? I don't know how easy it would be to put in there...but with enough $ I am sure it could be done.
...or just find a newer Jeep with a 4.0 already in it. That would be the easiest and least expensive choice.

Hey, what's this thing just above the rear view mirror on the ceiling? Sorry for the crappy picture. It's a 1993 XJ Country.

Mom-in-laws 03 grand cherokee just hit 260 on the thermostat and all dummy lights went on. All fluid levels were normal after cooldown. She sent me this pic from the radiator cap:

Looks like metal flakes but she's a couple hours away. She let it cool and it drove fine for the next few miles to her destination.

Any roadside suggestions? It seems to stay normal while I drive it around, but at standstill (traffic, lights, etc) it starts going towards the high temp side.

I swapped out the relay. Napa was the closest place...$64 later. Seems to be fine now. I wonder if the new one was damaged when someone backed into that corner last week. That whole area is affected. Took me forever and a jammed finger to work the headlight out.
Thanks for the heads up, Clown.
Can anyone offer thoughts on this, please? Just purchased a 99 XJ, base model with 4.0L and 5 speed manual, 4wd and 4 dr. 95K miles. Yesterday, after turning off the engine, the electric fan kept running. I could not get (what I think was) the connector disconnected, so I disconnected the battery while at my friend's. Rconnected battery for the drive home, same thing there - the fan kept running. Pouring rain, so I pulled the garage, turned off, and it stopped this time. Maybe a bad relay? I've searched this site, but with "fan" as a keyword, I'll be on here till next year searching. THanks in advance!
