Lol you asked. I've got a 8 point socket set, but I used an adjustable wrench. Works fine. Try tapping the wrench handle with a hammer when trying to loosen it..helps a ton

Just hook another crescent wrench to it for more leverage.

Outstanding suggestion! Most of my sockets are hex, but I do have a metric set of 12 pts...and the 17mm fits perfect!

Thanks for the heads up!

If you get interference with engine running, that power source will likely be the culprit.
I used that source as a trigger to activate a auxiliary fuse block with relay. It has constant power for CB and switched power for lights.
FYI. do not key the mic without the coax connected and antenna installed and grounded. It could fry the CB.

Don't even connect the mic until everything else is ready, and don't use the CB until you check it with an SWR meter

The radio has a fancy built in swr meter... gonna try and tune it with it. Also I was getting a lot of interference from the engine so I moved the power directly to the battery. No change. Gonna try and relocate the ground today and see if that helps. Radio is the bearcat 880. Antenna is the firestik firefly 3ft..had the tunable tip

The instructions with my CB recommended grounding to battery also.

The battery is grounded. .. you talking about the neg lead from the radio? Thought the ground was supposed to be as short as possible

Yes, negative lead from radio. Instructions said something like 'If interference is received, try direct ground to battery'.

I'll look into it. Also my swr is around 1.6 on channel 1 and 2.1 on channel 40. I've still got to tune it..heard ideal is around 1.5
