It could be if the mounts are worn out. Engine shifts, causes the driveline to shift, could cause the driveshaft to contact the exhaust. I'd expect that to be a problem only in 4WD, but it's possible

Oh great. That's just peachy.

None of my lights come on when I turn on the ignition, but the bulbs are good.

I know that because they work when they are supposed to, but when I turn on the ignition key, nothing lights up- sort of a "check the lights to make sure they work" thing.

Not the end of the world of course, but what makes them all light up when you turn on the ignition key?

I am battling a knock under feet in 4WD only. Cannot seem to figure it out. Have removed and inspected control arms, trackbar and front driveshaft.
Pried on balljoints and engine/transmission mounts. Closely examined all around, looking for 'contact points'.
Exhaust passes the oil pan with less than 1/4" clearance, but do not see any evidence of contact. Pinion has no play, same with output shaft. Shocks are still in one piece. Does not seem suspension related because it is not consistent with suspension travel..

On my 1996, only the GEN light comes on when I turn the ignition to ON.

Any ideas how best to fix this? I don't have a cutting torch, but I do have a small mig welder, grinder, drills, hammers, etc. Most of the normal hand tools.
Rear upper shock mount has been welded to body, shock bushing separated.
I was thinking i'd have to cut the floor from the top and try to drill through all of that and then probably have to weld a BPE mount in there.
Any of you seen a soup sandwich like this? Any ideas would be appreciated.

Is the knocking when driving, idling, turning etc. an is it a constant knock or rattling

Only while driving on the beach, when going over bumps/ruts, straight or turning, in 4WD Hi and Low (can't drive through that in 2WD). Intermittent knocking, feels like something hitting chassis.
Maybe I should look for unibody cracks.
Exhaust is tight.
I am guessing it's driveline or engine/tranny mount related.

Maybe this upper shock mount can bypass all those issues.

Only my check engine light flashes on when I turn the key actually. I was shining a flashlight through the back to show all of the various lights that are there haha
