After you buy these springs, go to the junkyard and grab a set of leafs from an s-10 or a dakota, cut off the main leaf eyes and bolt them up to the main leaf on the XJ pack... or just mix and match them to however you want. Lots of XJer's use this method - will give about 3"
okay so, yesterday cold as hell here in my area. went out to start the jeep, seemed like the battery was dead so i caught a ride to work with the neighbor. got home later to jump start the jeep, it will start up and DIE, doesn't sputter or anything like that, as soon as i let off the gas pedal its almost as if you're turning the vehicle off. a nice fast quiet death. replace battery. was going to pul l alternator but we had it running with the battery disconnected. i know this isn't really a good way to rule out the alternator but it was just too damn cold to actually pull it. guy at work started throwing out 'frozen vacuum lines' this morning but hell i don't know, i'm a locksmith not a mechanic.
can anyone point me in the right direction? it would be most certainly appreciated!

This occurs very randomly, sometimes every two three hundred miles. Usually within first 5 to 10 minutes of driving. Sudden loss of power like a switch being thrown, occasionally engine light comes on ,speedometer dies ,then everything recovers. This all happens almost instantaneous, off and then on. Sometimes once, sometimes two or three times in a row,but always very quickly. This will happen one day and then may not occur for two weeks. Another symptom, started jeep and within 30 seconds stalls out and could only keep running by throwing in neutral and feathering throttle , in 15minutes was running fine.
Things I have checked or changed:
No codes ,had it checked at autozone
Replaced cps
Checked fuel pressure at rail 46 lbs held for twenty minutes
Tested alt. said it passed
Replaced 7 year old battery, even though it started every day, said it had a bad cell
Removed grounding points cleaned and replaced
Visually checked vacumn hoses and wires and stared at engine compartment until I'm blind.
I am not wrench by any stretch of the imagination and have exhausted my small amount of knowledge. A buddy who has owned a bunch of xj's said to look at possible clogged cat "180,000miles", going to look into. I am wanting to say electric, because the speedometer drops off much quicker than the rpm's. The power loss and recovery,if that's what it is , just happens to fast for the speedometer to drop 20 mph. Thanks for help
Sorry one last thing. Today just before it acted up I heard a noise from behind the dash, drivers side, that sounded like a buzzer?, not really like a wire shorting but can't say for sure. Lasted about 3 seconds and my wife heard it sitting in pass. seat. No hot smell afterwards . Over the last 14 years I had heard that noise before,3 or 4 times, but it was always after I shut it off and was a minute or so after?
