Use your original sensors and accessories dude lol. And buy some new gaskets.

I have a few questions that I've been wondering about since I'm in the market.

-What are the best years to look for in 4 doors? (Want something late 80s early 90s)
-I don't want to buy a Cherokee and then be plagued with repairs. What are common problems with older Jeeps?
-What should I look for when checking out potential buys? (rust, engine, etc)

buy a 93 or newer. you want the HO 4.0 not the renix in earlier years.
check floors and rockers for rust and I mean the entire undercarriage. it will be hard to find a rust free cherokee depending on where ever you are located

They sell Cherokees that aren't plagued with problems? Who knew it?

I'd say about 90% of the jeeps you look at will need repairs. They may be small and easy or big and costly. Everyone I know with jeeps has put money into repairs unless that paid $4000+ for a old xj.

If you don't like troubleshooting with a multimeter buy a 91+. They have obd and are a little easier to diagnose. Plus they have more bolt on performance parts than the 84-90 models.

Rust is a big issue with jeeps. Its costly to repair if you do not know how to do it yourself. Look for oil leaks, and pops grinds or weird sounds from the drive train. Don't let mileage scare you too much, the 4.0l are known to last a very long time when taken care of.

On eBay I see performance axle seals, what are they and what's so special about them? They look like they just slide into the axle tube and have a grease fitting.

Is there a difference from stock to "performance"

Question. What's a good way to bolt down a small 5gal compressor in the cargo area. Ill bolt it down and use straps but wantto make sure there's no "bad" area bolt down too. Can't find pics anywhere except for side mounted ones

'90 was the last year of Renix motors, and '91 was the last year with vacuum disconnect axles.

I found areas around the perimiter of cargo area where sheet metal was doubled. Used 3/8" eye-bolts with fender washers and rubber grommets on both sides. Cut a slit in the carpet to slide in the washer. If you would like a picture I could make it happen.
