Just bought a MEan Green Alternator for my 96xj. I thought it was going to be a direct bolt in. It states on there that for some xj's I may need to trim the brackets. Does anyone know if I will need to do this?
On the site it stated that it was for all xj's. The direction states that it is only for 91-98 xj's. Do you guys know if the xj's they are reffering to are the years not mentioned in their instructions?

Why did you spend that much on an alternator?

Any lager case alt will need grinding on the bracket.
Yeah, that's way to much for an alt. 160amp alts are readily available for cheap. You will most likely never reach 160amp capacity.

But I'm in the middle of removing the old alternator and one of the small 7mm nuts have become stuck on there and for the life of me I can't remove it. After pb blaster and some muscle it has since become stripped. Has anyone dealt with that before? There is not a lot of playroom in there to get it off using other methods. At least that I have thought of.

Couple quick questions.
My XJ - 1987 Pioneer 4WD 4.0L
1. for wagoneer owners. When you turn on the hazards and then step on the brake, do the hazards continue to flash or do the brake lights override them? I have wagoneer tail lights on my XJ and when I step on the brake, the hazards stop flashing. I've already tried two electronic flashers but not a regular one.
2. When you switch on the transmission "power" switch from the "comfort" setting, does it take effect right away? I.e. the little light on the switch turns on and the shifting is a little different. Mines always takes a little while to turn on, but once it does, it stays on. (meaning it doesn't appear to be an intermittent connection.)
Thanks

Another problem today. I've been using 4wheel drive a lot lately and today coming home from work I hit a hole and it threw my transfer case in neutral. Lever never moved but I had to out it back in 2wheel then back to 4 what would cause this? Not sure what transfer case but it has part time 4x4 no full time. 97 4.0 sport

Changed the thermostat for the second time this month and it still didn't help. This is where the temp sits, you idle for a half hour it moves up just above the line. But it always just sits at the line, is this normal?
Also when I have the HVAC set to hot and on vent it's Luke warm air but when I turn on bi-level is warmer.
