That's an excellent reason to not care about noise levels, but I sadly have no experience with the valve covers.

You still gave good info. I didn't know there was a difference between aluminum and steel/rubber valve stem caps.

No idea. Nothing in the valve train touches the valve cover...

Earlier engines had a cast alum VC. It wasn't until '96 or '97 that stamped steel was the norm.

Someone told me that cast aluminum VCs helped dissipate heat little better. Is that true

THe 96 is a bit of a bastard year, some parts are 95-ish and some already 97. What you can do,is to use the partscatalogue of Rockauto.com to verify the partnumbers. But some still say that finding the right parts for 96 can be challenging..

Not sure. The steel ones warp more easily IIRC. Probably a lot cheaper to produce. While aluminum is a better thermal conductor I don't see why this would matter at all for a valve cover, the head has coolant flowing through it and the air is always being sucked out by the CCV.
