Question guys!
I'm getting my 8.8 welded Saturday I think.
So about my pinion angle, right now I have the stock slip yoke driveshaft but I will eventually get a hack n tap with a double Cardon drive shaft. What should I set my pinion angle up as? Go ahead and point it up parallel for a sye? Or set it for the drive shaft now and shim it later

Thanks guys

I'd vote up sliiightly for the double-cardan DS, you can shim for any discrepancy. You can also shim to lower the pinion angle for the stock DS.

Is it safe to drive without my front passenger shock for a couple months? I am building my lift kit up, but I'm not ready to install it yet, nor do I have the time right now. My shocks are shot all the way around, and have been for some time now, but today was worse than others.....

woud it be safe if I pulled that one shock out and just dealt with the bouncy till I could get my new ones?

Unless your shocks were super stiff and you were driving with no sway bar you shouldn't notice much of a difference. I'd remove both to make handling more predictable.

I do have the swaybar still, so I'm going to take it off and take it for a spin and see how she feels. Maybe I'll pull the other off too

Well actually I talked to a friend of mine and he said he has an extra set of old shocks laying around! So I'm headed over there right now to go swap it out. Maybe I'll take it for a spin and let you guys know while the shock is out

Well the shocks my buddy had are the wrong kind, they're rear shocks. We took out that one shock and it literally had no resistance at all, besides where it was binding up where it was went. I don't think it's going to be any different than it was before, besides it was be able to move now. I think there was more give in the bushing than anything else. I have a video but apparently I can't upload it from my phone XJ Ask the Question Thread-image-2269100444.jpg

Edit: it rides so much better than before!! Holy crap! No worse symptoms, just free suspension movement.

Please do us all a favor. Buy a jack and stands! HiLifts are meant for recovery, never working under. Thanks.

Default Mean Green Alternator

Just bought a MEan Green Alternator for my 96xj. I thought it was going to be a direct bolt in. It states on there that for some xj's I may need to trim the brackets. Does anyone know if I will need to do this?

On the site it stated that it was for all xj's. The direction states that it is only for 91-98 xj's. Do you guys know if the xj's they are reffering to are the years not mentioned in their instructions?

i have 91 xj with the 4.0l. i just replaced the muffler and tailpipe and have noticed that the exhaust is really sooty and has a lot of soot in the tailpipe already (about 1k miles) i think the fuel air mix is too rich. what the best way to adjust that?
