Ok so just took my XJ in for some recalls and they replaced the front rotors per the recall and now at about 57-60MPH I have a horrible wobble like the tires are out of balance. What do y'all think it could be? Thanks

Check to make sure they tightened the lug nuts.

Default 96 jeep grand cherokee laredo

i have a 96 jeep grand cherokee laredo, 4.0l 4 wheel drive. when full time 4 wheel drive is engaged and i'm on a dry parking lot and trying to make sharp turns it feels like the jeep is binding up and doesn't want to move the harder i turn. even when i put it back into 2 wheel rear wheel drive it binds up a little bit but after driving for a while it stops binding up, is this normal? or is there a part on the tc that is bad. this is our first 4x4 vehicle and i dont know much about the system, any help would be great the odom does have over 257,000 miles but doesnt look a day over 150,000.......this is my first time posting and im not sure if i posted in the right area or not. thanks again

Well this section is for XJ Cherokees which are different vehicles from ZJ, WJ, WK, and WK2 Grand Cherokees, so this is more of an educated guess: It's likely that your CV joints in the front axle are shot. You can verify this by putting the Jeep up on axle stands, transfer case in Neutral, and turning the front wheels by hand. You'll likely notice that the wheels are very stiff or hard to turn at a certain point in their rotation. You may also see similar behaviour in the drive shaft's Universal Joints.

If you're so inclined to do work yourself, CV shaft replacement is pretty easy and they can be found online for $50 or so. If you have U joints it's a little of a pain in the *** but you can 'rent' a tool to help you do it for free. If you have another vehicle you can drive around in while you do the work (might take you all day, maybe longer if you're a first timer without a garage) it will save you a good chunk of labour. Shop rates are something like 2-3 hours for this.

Grand Cherokee section: https://www.cherokeeforum.com/f5/

Best parts site on the Internet: http://www.rockauto.com/

I THINK a '96 ZJ has CV joints, not U joints, but to help you determine here's a picture showing difference between U joints and CV joints:

The 4x4 system is not designed for dry pavement, doing sharp turns on dry pavement can damage axles, driveshafts, u - joints, etc.

Fairies stuck in the spokes
Finely-tuned air leak
The sheer awesomeness of your freshly painted red calipers

You're gonna have to give us a LOT more information dude... so far all we have is:

1) Jeep (1941 - 2014)
2) Noise (~4,540,000,000 BC - 2014)

NP242 with "Full Time" as installed in a ZJ is. ZJs never came with the NP231.

ZJ stock specs:
Transfer Cases

NP242 used on I6 ZJs and WJs - This is known as SelecTrac NOTE: 93-94 V8 ZJ's had option of the NP242 Selec-Trac t-case.

NP249 used on all V8 ZJs and WJs, and was optional on 6 cylinder models - This is known as QuadraTrac.

NP 231 used on various HD ZJ and WJ V8s - known as Command-Trac
Also in 93-94 NP231 Command Trac was available with the I6's in SE's and Laredo's.

2002 - Quadra-Trac II introduced as option on V8s- known as Quadra-Drive, this is an AWD system similar to Audis and Subarus.

Maybe... some people can't hear above 12KHz. Dolby Pro-Logic defines "high pitched" as above 8KHz. I can hear feedback on the 16 KHz harmonic.

12Hz (in ideal laboratory conditions) - 20kHz (high-end hearing loss begins dropping off around age 8) is considered the human audible spectrum.

Whoops, missed that part. I do know the 96 has CV joints, just replaced one 2 weeks ago. They usually tend to be a problem.
