I think the ball joint test is to do the same except you grab at the 1 and 7 position.

Hit it with a hammer. Then take the caliper off and spin the wheel.

Default Drag link/Center link tie rod ends left right wha..?

I recently noticed that pretty much all the rubber bushings in the front end need replacing, ball joints too but that's a whole topic I think.

I just want to replace all the rod bushings in the front. But, I'm having trouble figuring out which parts to buy.

The rods and ends all seem fine so I thought I could just replace the bushings. Then I read a lot of people saying to just replace the entire ends.

Okay, but then when you look at the Chilton's or haynes diagrams they're called the "tie rod" and "center link".

Some places call this a drag link too I'm guessing. Then there is left and right ends with left and right threading and my head starts spinning. Who's left and right anyway? Facing the front of the car, or the way the car is facing?

Could somebody please explain what I need to get this done? I'm pretty darn sure that just replacing the bushings on the end of both of those rods (I already have a trackbar bushing kit that's going in when I do the tie rods) will do the trick.

Thanks a million.

Tie rods just have dust boots, no bushings. If they are still new, you can just get new boots for them.

Thanks. Can you tell me how many I'd need to replace them all? And, can I put the poly ones in there where the center link attaches to the pitman arm?

Also, does it take two boots for each end? Thanks.

And, is this what you're talking about?

What year? If it's '92 or newer check for the DOME fuse under the dash.
