First thing first, on level ground, pop the fill plug to make sure it has enough fluid. Did you use a feeler gauge to check all the clearances and compare them to spec? If it was installed properly, proper clearances, and proper fluid level, then yes over time once you break it in it will get quieter.

Did the instructions tell you to do a spin test with the front end off the ground? For my rear aussie locker I did. You have someone on one side hold the wheel and you on the other side give it a spin. It is supposed to unlock and ratchet. My was real loud at first when it unlocked, it really has gotten more quiet. As long as it was installed right then its normal. I took mine back out, inspected it, regapped the side gear and cam gear clearances, and re installed it after a 1000mi. All was well. It is going to take some serious getting used to. Also when you turn and it unlocks, try to always be coasting. Having a manual it has taken a lot to get used to since the coasting characteristics of my xj make the locker lock and unlock repeatedly while turning. I try to shift into neutral or apply a small amount of gas when turning.

Ah okay well I will do the spin test. I didn't gap anything I took the full carrier out. Put locker in. Put shaft pin in. Put ring gear Back on Torq to spec and installed. It looked like it was perfect

I was slightly wrong in my statement.

I looked at the 4 XJ's in my yard.

Both my 93's and my 92 were just like the picture. The 98 that my wife drives did not have that. Just the hole in the front of the box.

So, I got sick of my power window not working and decided to take off both doors and really get in there and to my surprise I found TONS of broken wires in the drivers door where the hinge is. But the icing on top of the cake was the right front passenger door. The previous idiot owner had cut a huge section on wire directly off the harness close to the circuit and inserted spade clips that didn't quite touch so the fix to make them touch.....he duct taped a basic screw in between the two to complete the circuit.... some people are so stupid because now I have to buy a whole new wiring harness! In the process of all this I also noticed that where a standard door pin should have been is a plain old r key hahahah I have a lot of work ahead of me I thought I would share my story..

Haha actually yes I forgot to ask. Ok I don't want to buy a new wire harness and I was wondering if there was a way to fix or replace the chunk of missing wire. I would add a simple section but the wire has been cut off so close the the harness there is not enough wire slack for me to do so. Any suggestions on how to go around this without shelling out for a new harness?

I'd find someone with a harness. Should be really easy to find in a junk yard.

You can't make chicken salad out of chicken ****.

Hard wired it? Use some other connector you have? Just thinking. Lol
