Trying to hook up trailer 4 pin connector on a 91 cherokee.
Is there a "right" way to do it?
So far, I have found there are 3 extra unused wires in the taillight connector, unknown what they are for. The "other" way to hook it up would be with a 5 wire to 4 wire converter, since the brakes and turn signals are seperate. I'd prefer not to have to go this route.

I guess converterand splice it is then. The Etrailer video was most informative, but I need to get this in tonight, so I don't have the option of ordering. Other than the nice connector (that's only good on 97+, and I'm a 91), it's the same parts as at Autozone. Thanks all for the help!

Hello all,
Kelly P. here, new to the forum and not well versed on the whole forum thing, that said... I have searched around and not found an answer pertaining to my particular question.
I would like to fabricate or buy something that will funnel air from outside the engine compartment to my stock air box.
As it sits right now, the air box just has a rectangular intake hole on the front side of the air box, been that way since I got it. It hasn't been hacked or cut in any way.
The issue is obviously 2 fold, I have gotten water into the air box in certain situations posing the risk of hydro-lock (not good!)
& the possiblility of a little better power/gas mileage as a result of getting cooler air into the combustion chamber.
I've seen the posts with the K&N style air cleaners etc. but in my mind these are not an option for a couple different reasons, mostly personal preference. Nor is the whole safari snorkel setup (I don't end up anywhere that expense would be beneficial). Ideally, I am just looking to get outside air as opposed to the super heated engine compartment air yet still be reasonably resistant to water logging and such.
Any ideas or successful modifications that I could copycat would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks!
Kelly P.

Thanks Lowrange, I always imagined this to be the case... but it seems every cherokee that comes into our shop looks the same. There must be a part that attaches to the air box that somehow gets discarded at some time.
Thanks again!

I didn't think that 'tube' was removable.

I can't find a picture at the moment but the rectangular hole in the front of the air box has a rectangular hole that lines up with it in front of the air box in the sheet metal. On all of mine there's a rectangular 'tube' that runs from the air box thru that hole and gains access to fresh air.
