I'd say, if possible, go to a junkyard and take the section of harness that you need, with 8-12" of slack in case you make mistakes when splicing.

 

Are manual and power mirrors the same glass? The Po of mine busted both sides and I need new ones. Anyone got a great place to order from?

 

I'd get the whole harness if were right there.

I got a question for anyone who wants to answer.

Wiring harness that connect everything in my doors to the rest of the XJ. I know there's a lot of wires. Do they "disconnect" from the main harness at any certain point?

I was wondering if I could get that section of harness from the JY and repair it then swap them out. For less downtime. The JY by me doesn't charge **** for wires.

 

I wouldn't want to replace a full harness if I just need door wires. Am I missing something? I just woke up.

 

I think you'd need whole new assemblies, I don't think you can swap glass.

 

Early model door harnesses disconnect in the kick panel on both sides. I'm referring to replacing the entire door harness. Nothing to doing that. I assume his broken wire is on the door side of that connection.

If it's on the Jeep side of that connection then I agree, splice in what you need.

 

Yes, the mirror is the same.

You can usually order replacement glass at an autoparts store. They have sticky back.

I was thinking JY prices, $30 for both if manual. Lol. New wouldn't be very practical.

I'm 99% sure the problem is in the door, where it goes from door to body.

Its a 99 so I guess no luck on the kick panel disco.

Looks like I'll have to repair what's there. If I remove the pin in the small hinge that's in the door, it'll swing open further right? I have no room in there to investigate things.
