HELP ok so i pulled my alternator today to swap it not sure how i got the belt off it just kinda happened. now ive got the alt. back in and the bolts in it and ive got the ac compressor bolt on the bottom loose. how do i get the belt tight again.
oh its on a 2.5 in an 86 xj

Hey guys, im new to jeeping. My dad just bought a 96 cherokee for $1,500 with 140k on it. I just want to know if the rears are locked or not and how much is it to put lockers in and what is a good streetable locker? Thanks alot, Dom.

Good test to see if it's an open diff is jack up both rear tires, and spin one. If the other tire spins the opposite way it's an open diff.

Stock, it would be a Dana 30 axle on the front and a Dana 35 axle on the back, both with open diffs. If you have the towing package from the factory, you'll have a Dana 44 with a limited slip diff on the back(I think, don't take my word for this)
Good test to see if it's an open diff is jack up both rear tires, and spin one. If the other tire spins the opposite way it's an open diff.
D44s weren't offered as factory that late in production.

Yeah like 89 said i wouldn't bother with an axle swap unless you plan on doing extreme stuff or it breaks. On 33's... I think you'll be okay on stock gears, I'm not knowledgeable on gearing at all. But i can say you should consider a slip yolk eliminator or t/case drop.
