I have an owners manual ordered but it won't be here for a few days and I plan to go out tomorrow.

I did a search of the forum and read hundreds of posts but couldn't find the instructions.

Your help is appreciated.

Okay so my buddy and I went out to try out my new lift on Saturday. Nothing to radical but tested it fairly good. Had a great time and the suspension did awesome. On my shifting questions, it slid into 4H and 4L like it was brand new. Awesome.

Your latch may need to be adjusted mine unlatches but you have to pull hard cuz i have electrical tape around the latch pin to minimize rattling from the pin being worn

*stupid question time* My leaf springs are getting a little too straight for me. It's got a 4.5 inch lift, so I have to buy another set of 4.5 inch Rough Country leaf springs? Because I don't see just the leafs on their own, and with how new the P.O. CLAIMED the lift was, I don't understand how they would've sagged to that point already.

it was probably an add-a-leaf kit - they tend to sag back to nothing over time.
They do sell just the springs though (#8047?) - call them up.

You don't have to stick with RC Springs though. Rusty's has really nice springs for a good price http://rustysoffroad.com/mm5/merchan...gory_Code=LEAF

That's what I thought/was hoping.(The add-a-leaf) Which is why I just want new leafs.(add-a-leafs were suggested to me, as well as shackles.)

Thanks as always Dukie.

Default Replacing an ECM

I have a 1998 jeep Cherokee with a bad ECM, Can i swap out this one with another year of the same model or do I need to dish out the $250 for a new one. Also the engine just died recently probably related but I'm hearing a fast paced clicking noise under my hood in the fuse box. Sounds like possibly a faulty relay switch. It's trying to start but won't turn over. If anyone has any info on this I'd really appreciate it.

how did you determine bad ecm? It is VERY rare for a ECM to go bad in these vehicles - it's usually mis-diagnosed by a lazy mechanic. The ticking noise is the starter relay/solenoid telling you that there is not enough amperage reaching the starter to engage the motor.

Get your battery load tested, check the condition of the wires to the starter, clean/replace the battery terminals, and freshen your engine to firewall ground and fender to battery ground.

Default Suspension and Steering Check Thread.

I want to go through my steering and suspension components with a fine-toothed comb, but searching for each check is taking forever. I searched the how to area for an overall check, but I didn't find anything. Does anyone know of a guide anywhere online? Thank you.

Thank you all in advance!

Individually spray each pulley shaft with WD-40 while it's running. One at a time, whichever pulley you spray and the squeaking stops, that's your culprit.

I scanned the check engine light and brought up the ecm unit as faulty. As for the battery its just been replaced recently with a optima battery which meets the cca for the vehicle. This Cherokee started right up and ran like a champ just before dieing on me the other day.

How much play/rotation should i be able to get out of my front ds when in park?
The back twists a little but the front seems a bit sloppier than it ought to be.
