When doing the oil pan and rear main seal on a 90 4.0l is the transmission rails in the way when trying to remove the pan? Also does the starter need to ve removed to make it easier?
I did a search, but nothing came up that matched my problem so here goes...
My '94 XJ cranks and starts just fine, but the voltmeter sits all the way to the left like the alt is dead. When I start driving it, the lights dim way down and the tach and speedo start bouncing around and the radio dies like it's getting no electrical power. After 5 or 10 minutes of driving and praying the car doesn't die, the voltmeter jumps up to normal and everything is fine. It's just started doing this since the temps are getting colder, almost like the alternator has to "warm-up". I checked and the alt is spinning so I know it's not a belt slipping issue or anything like that. Thanks for any help!

On the inside of the fender flare theres metal circular slips that snap over studs, once you get all those off the rest are plastic snap in clips. Pop them all off then the splash shield will come out.

I removed my bumper end caps a few months ago but just cant recall every last bolt. Best bet it to crawl under there with a flashlight and investigate.
