Hey I saw an idea in some other thread about having two seperate parking brakes. With two handles and everything. I heard it might be a lil helpful for rock crawling. Any ideas on how that would work? Or if it would help for crawling? this question. Is open to anybody to answer. U all might have seen the idea I'm bringing up group the other thread. I'm just curious on if that guys idea would work?
Hi there.
I have a '95 jeep grand cherokee laredo 4.0 6cyl. So noticed i had an oil problem after driving home for about 8 hours and went through 7 litres of oil. I have been told to replace my pcv valve for one idea. Then also my air filter is covered with oil and the oil is spraying and leaking. One other person said i had the oil spraying mostly for the OPS sensor. Are these the correct things to replace? I am planning on replacing the ops sensor, the pcv valve and the air filter, Can i do anything else or could there be anything else wrong? Also how do you replace the ops sensor?
Thank you

Oil showing up in the air filter can indeed be a sign of a clogged CCV system... The CCV system (different from PCV) is designed to suck oil vapors into the intake and burn them, but 7 liters in 8 hours is way more than normal. The CCV system on a 4.0 doesn't have any valves.
I'm at work right now so I don't have much time to find my favorite writeup, but basically the CCV flows like this:
air filter -> fresh air hose -> elbow at front of valve cover -> inside valve cover (pick up oil and blowby here) -> elbow at rear of valve cover -> crankcase hose (looks like a vacuum line) -> fitting at intake manifold
It's not uncommon for the hose to the intake manifold or one of its fittings to get clogged, when this happens there's no more vacuum and the mess goes onto the air filter. The hose and intake manifold fitting can be cleaned, but beware that the elbows usually disintegrate when you try to remove them. They can be picked up cheap - some parts stores call them PCV incorrectly. The front one is just an elbow with a large opening inside, the rear one is an elbow with a much smaller hole ("metered orifice").
If you clean/replace these bits that should help somewhat, but such blowby is typically caused by worn rings. I would recommend a compression test be done on all cylinders in this case.
No idea what an OPS sensor is.
It is best to replace the two valve cover grommets and the elbows. I just replaced them with dealer parts for around $20 total. I broke the elbows into so many pieces I almost had to pull the valve cover but I managed to get them out. I took a screw driver and split the grommets, then slid the flat head as far down as a I could and pried the elbow up. Heres a good write up http://www.jeepforum.com/forum/f13/h...elbows-500359/
