That would be your NSS (Neutral Safety Switch).

What is the multi-headed vacuum valve coming off of the heater core? Has like 5 different hoses hooked to it and is actuated by vacuum. What does it do?

Default Jeep won't start all the time

I've narrowed the problem to the neutral safety switch. Tried moving the shifter back and forth. Tried neutral. and it works sometimes. Is there a way to bypass the neutral safety switch or an adjustment of somekind? Its a 96 Cherokee 4.0L 2WD Auto Trans 265k miles. I want to keep her going but funds are tight.

No need to bypass the NSS. You
Can fix it like brand new for free. Take it off, take it apart, clean it and put it back on. Did this with mine and it starts like the day it was made. Dukie put a link to a write up a few post ago^^^^

Default drive shaft and t-case

quick question i think i already know the answer for it and if i was at home i could measure and get the answer my self. I found an np231 with the hack n tap sye, and a tom woods d-shaft. from a 98 4 door auto. the guy claims that it will fit either of my two doors one is a 92 with a stick and the other is an 89 auto. i'm almost sure the t-case the way it is will fit my 89 auto but i don't think it would fit the 93 with the stick due to spline difference on the input. also he seems to think the 4 door d shaft will fit my two door. and i think its a no brainer that a longer jeep takes a longer drive shaft. so if any one has the measurements off hand i would appreciate it greatly, because as i said i am 4 hours from my house and can't go out to measure for myself. thanks in advance for any help it will be much appreciated.

logstomper

disregard google search answered the questions. but if anyone has 2 cents on the hack n tap that would be great. just a general good bad or horrible experience with them. thanks

Ok so which sensor or switch turns on the 4wd light on a 95? I haven't looked into it at work yet but I thought I'd just ask on here bc i know the switch or whatever is going out bc sometimes the light will work other times it won't. And it's annoying. So any info would be great thanks!
