I have a 95 Cherokee it's stock. I am experiencing a problem that started last winter. When my jeep sits for a while in the cold, the battery gauge shows low volts when I start it up. When I drive down the road, I get a squealing noise from under the hood and the charging gauge still reads low. But as soon as the squealing stops, the gauge will read charging at 14 volts. I replaced the altenator last year thinking that it was getting bad. I have also tried tightening the serpentine belt. to no real affect. The jeep will also throw codes which I still have to research while driving as this noise is happening. I bought the jeep 3 yrs ago, and the belt could or should be replaced. I also noticed that the harness going to the O2 sensor had been burnt by the exhaust manifold. I retaped and rerouted it. Could this be part of my problem. When all of this is happening, the engine runs fine. It really just seems to happen when it is cold out. Any thoughts on this?

Just cause an alternator is new doesn't mean its good lol, I got one from auto zone. Yes I know guys Haha. And it was bad out of the box, my belt squeeks sometimes when its cold and I turn sharp. I've also tightened it down a few good times to no affect, I've just got used to it. If if stopped I would be worried lol. As far as the o2 sensor that little guy controls a lot. You'll get a lot more answer in a few buy guys that know a lot more about that. Good luck

Hey guys my xj is randomly dying hot, cold, idling, sittin in the drive thru, just whenever usually restarts righ away sometimes takes a few minutes. I've done the blink test and it is throwing code 32 which is suppose to be the egr code but i'm being told a 1995 doesn't have a egr so i'm lost and way confused. Any suggestions?

That said your issue sounds like a bad crankshaft position sensor. This usually will not throw a code, or it throws a weird one - like what you're experiencing.
Here's the best writeup i've found for changing it:

#11 is no timing reference signal (aka bad crankshaft or camshaft position sensor)

yes they do - it's part of the distributor assembly.
I will add though that cam sensors rarely go bad. Crankshaft position sensor failure is very common on these trucks. Change the crank sensor first.
