No but just like the law. Anything for emissions can not be altered or removed.... If it has any emission info on it at all its just like cutting your cat off.

I dont understand how that can be legal. Wouldnt they just not allow you to register it? Its no threat to anyone.

Exactly, that's how stolen vehicles work. they steal it, pop the vin off and rivet a fake one on and sell it to unsuspecting people who then get the cars confiscated without warning or reimbursement.

BUT i know some manufacturers stamp partial or full VINS on various fenders to help take down chop shops.

I watched my pride and joy civic get flattened after I did a rhd conversion and did not have a certified shop reinstall the vin... It hurts like hell watching about 15k get flattened in 30 seconds.
Rhd, ctr b16 custom built lsd trans 5 lug black type r seats gathers interior bronze glass.... It was all true jdm.... Now it's most likely a fender of some econo box.

Yea, that's pretty effed up that they are even allowed to do that crap. Let someone tell me they're going to crush my ride for something like that... they can meet the .357 face-to-face.

Honestly? You would shoot a cop? Then guess what? They would still have your ride......

hey guys, ive had my xj for few years now but now that i have some extra money i want to do a 3 inch lift. nothing too much because its my daily driver and i like to drive quickly. so my question is whats everything i need to do this lift? i found a lift for a good price with 3 inch spacers in the front and an add a leave for the rear with new shocks. will i also need new sway bars for the front and rear? BPE's? new coils?
85% of my driving is done on pavement as well so travel isnt my biggest priority, mostly to get my jeep higher over the snow and make my driveway easier.

no. tried that. we found some of the special tool things though. the neighbor had some. it's amazing what a little round piece of plastic can do. all is good now.

well, now I just need to get the hoses going into the heater core (at the firewall, that run alongside the valve cover) off. and that one last bolt holding the HVAC box to the firewall that's behind the engine. it's not like a regular bolt. it has a white plastic thing on it. and I'm not even sure what to do with it.

you would probably be better off with just getting new coils (instead of spacers, at least not 3" spacers) and new full leaf packs.

you don't need BPEs but it is a plus. for 3" lift a new trackbar is ideal, if not needed.

Like Kuzican said go the extra mile and get all new springs unless you plan on lifting it more within a few years, chances are your current rear leafs are flat and worn out. Your rear swaybar is nearly useless so just take it off while you're under there (that's one of the first things we all took off), and your front sway will be fine. Your stock tierod should be fine as well, you'll just need new shocks from what i know.
