What's a way to change the stock tow hooks to stop tow ropes from falling off every time I back up to get some momentum? Really annoying when someone has to put the rope back every time..

You could rig up some sort of tension spring out of some super thin flat steel. Or carry around some zip ties.

Hey guys, I'm a little new to the forum. I got an 88 4dr and I'm having some trouble finding parts. Because it was an AMC Jeep none of the chyrstler dealers have the parts I need and/or thier systems just dont go back that far...

I had to remove the fuel rail and now I'm having trouble getting it back together (without leaking). The factory fuel rail to fuel supply/return line clips broke upon removal and I CANNOT get new ones anywhere.

I took some quick cell phone pics. The black one is stock and you can tell that its a little longer, almost like it has an attacked spacer. I tried putting the new ones in with new orings and spacers but after I pressurized the fuel rail, they started leaking. Please ignore the size difference, the white one shown isnt the size I was trying to use, just one I had for comparison sake.

Hopefully you guys will know where I can find these

Get a piece thin plate, and drill and tap like a 1/4 20 or 10/24 hole in the tow hook, just bolt the plate on and carry a nut driver or wrench to tighten it in the xj. Or, I'm pretty sure I've seen tow hooks with a piece built in to hold the strap in.

My trackbar mount is so rusted that the inside bolt is no longer visible.
Do I need to replace the entire mount as well?
Or, is there some way to remove the trackbar from the mount?

That's probably what I'll end up doing. Don't want to buy new hooks since I'm buying a front bumper by the end of summer.

Man, I'm so glad I live in Houston and don't have to deal with rust.

'94 XJ with 175k miles getting terrible gas mileage (100 miles per TANK). No codes thrown. Spark plugs are only a year old, wires are original as far as I know. O2 sensors are original as far as I know also. Do bad O2 sensors always throw codes?? Should I go ahead and change them? I searched but found no write-up on changing O2 sensors on here. Please help!

Replace the bracket and bar, that will be the best/ easiest option

Alot of things can cause bad gas mileage but if your sensos and wires are stock still, changing them will help some. Hows your air filter in the engine bay

And find someone local that will give you their old one for free, you can have mine if you want it, itl probably be kinda expensive to ship though.

Wow, it's tight under a stock xj.

Saw these on trailer chains from U-Haul. Brilliant. Get some crap bits of rubber or foam and poke some holes in 'em... instead of putting them on a chain put them on your tow hooks:

Or, you could poke a tiny hole in the hook (or nearby) and rig up something like this:

Sounds like you need a major tune up. I'd change the oil, oil filter, fuel filter, air filter, spark plugs, wires, cap and rotor, both 02 sensors. Also, check your tire air pressure.

Are we allowed to remove the emissions/vacuum sticker on the firewall without breaking any laws before I alter it for a cowl intake. I think its just the metal serial #/vin plate thats pop riveted on that we cant remove but want to double check. Thanks
