The spray stuff they have I actually like it's not super rough but it's rough. I forget exactly what type it is I just used it on my front bumper and I loved the look of it. And the rustoleum self etching primer is what I used. It's pretty good stuff.

 

My hood wasnt closed properly and while i was driving it flipped up all the way to the windshield I got off the road and closed it,but whenever i try to lift the hood now it pushes against the cowl grille and i know it will break eventually. How can i fix the lifting problem until i get a new hood?

 

I tried searching for this but didn't really know what to look for. So I'll try to describe it the best I can.

I was testing out my 4 wheel high last night(no wheelin, just around the block) after putting new fluid in the transfer case and trans. It seems to engage and dis-engage fine. However, when turning it seems to have a binding sound. I know it's typical to get some feedback when turning in 4wd, but this has me concerned. Front diff oil has already been changed a couple weeks ago. I'm going to grease all the fittings up front today. Are the u-joints bad or going bad?

 

I have a very odd problem on my 99 xj. For the past month or so I would run into the problem that when I am driving down the highway, my jeep would sort of buck (almost like i hit a pothole that didn't exist, nothing violent.) It would also hesitate slightly at takeoff from idle. Then one day I was driving at 55mph and it did the buck twice and a few seconds later my tach drops to 0 instantly and i loose all response from gas pedal. Jeep slows down all the way to idle, but never cuts off. I got it to the side of the rode and sat at idle for a few seconds until the tach all of a sudden pops back up to idle and i suddenly have throttle response again. No check engine light that time.

It was almost a week before it bucked again. Then almost a week again before the rpm drop happened again and this time the check engine light came on, but when the rpm came back, the light went off instantly.

Any ideas? I am almost sure its something electrical. I fixed the hesitation by changing my throttle position sensor. I also have since change plugs, plug wires, dist. cap, and rotor button.

latest symptom was i was sitting at idle and everything but off instantly. even though key was still in start position i had no lights or radio on. turned it off and cut it back on and it fired straight up.

Any help would be much appreciated.

 

Check your battery terminals and main grounds and engine ground

 

any idea where all the grounds locations are? i tried finding a diagram but no luck

 

There's one from the battery to chasis then there's on from the engine block itself to chasis. Maybe someone can take a pic for you if I can tomorrow I will

Yea go under the hood and on the driver side right behind the cluster it's usually around there

 

It sounds, unfortunately like your u-joints are bad. That is exactly how mine sounded before I had to have them replaced.

 

hey guys, what is the approx. weight of the 4.0L I6 engine?

 

I would have to guesstimate around 1000 lbs . I could be off but I can't see it being too much less

 

The 4.0 is between 450 and 525 pounds
