XJ Ask the Question Thread
Also, I replace my exhaust manifold the other day on my 93 XJ. The date in the block was a 96. So apparently the PO put a different block in there and I have no idea how many miles are on it. Anyways. Are there any difference between the 93 and 96 4.0 motor? Just wondering.

I have a squealing noise when starting the fan for heat/air. Replaced the resistor not so long ago due to only having the fan work on high, but now I think the blower motor is starting to give in.
Basically I just want to know, is it only the blower motor that can cause this, or is there something else I should look for while I'm at it?

In which case, I haven't found a single person who knows as of yet. I believe this problem will only be solved with a new compressor.

Anyone know the length for the front hard brake lines? My flare nuts are rusted and siezed to it and need to replace them. I have extended brake lines to go with it.

Are these sway bar links too long? I been dealing with death wobble lately. I'm wondering if this could be the culprit

And this. How much lift are you running?
As far as your death wobble issues.... see below:

I'm having alignment issues. I'm getting a (fairly light) pull to the right. I got the alignment checked and it's mostly good.. However the castor isn't even on each side.
What I've done so far; is double check my track bar and it is centered (within 1/16") to the chassis. Each links (upper and lower) is equal to the other side. I can't think what else would cause me to have unequal length control arms to get a correct castor reading. My jeep is super straight and has never been in a wreck.
It started pulling after I got new tires and upper control arms. Both were installed at the same time.

So I'm installing a high idle switch and found this write up. Problem is, I don't have a pin 10. I mean, here is a pin, but there is no wire going into the plug to connect to. The pin 10 slot is empty. I tried on 12 and that doesn't do anything, so it's got to be pin 10. The hole for where pin 10 wire would go into the connector is blocked off too. There's a little dimple there where it should be. If I look on the female side of the connector for pin 10, there is no metal slot for a pin to slide into ethier. Does this mean I can't do high idle? What does this mean?

New noise: either coming TC or front axle/joints.. Went out to just do a weekly drive.. After a quick 5 min off road to flex it out, got back on pavement and engaged 4wd. Went in and comes out easy, but nows there's a noise- a bit like metal scraping- when in 4wd. It stuck around after shifting back to 2wd, then suddenly, as if shifting out of 4wd, the noise stopped. Shifted back into 4wd and noise returned and didn't go away after shifting back to 2wd. Everything functions well, no clunks/pops hard under accelerate/stop and changes with speed. Thoughts? I know I should pull front shaft and see what happens, but the fact it happens in 4wd makes me think TC? Thanks fellas.
